First appearance in Huizhou! The "most mysterious bird in the world" is here

Science Fiction Network reported on April 13 (Qin Yingying) Recently, staff from the Huizhou City Huidong County Natural Ecological Protection Promotion Association discovered that they had captured the activities of "the most mysterious bird in the world," the Hainan bittern (jiān) while collecting and collating infrared camera images of Wuqinzhang.

The Hainan bittern is a bird native to China, mainly inhabiting valleys and other water areas in subtropical high mountain forests. It is a resident bird in Hainan, and a summer migratory bird or traveling bird in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang and Anhui. There are only about 1,000 of them in the wild, which is rarer than the giant panda. Therefore, it is listed as one of the 30 most endangered birds in the world. Because it is extremely rare, the Hainan bittern is also called "the most mysterious bird in the world."

The Hainan bittern is a nocturnal species that first appeared in the 1960s, but it seemed to have disappeared again until it was discovered again in the 1990s. If it weren't for modern infrared cameras, it would be difficult to see its true appearance.

It is understood that the Hainan bittern first appeared in Guangdong in July 2022. Staff at the Bijiashan Provincial Nature Reserve in Lianshan, Guangdong found an injured bird lying on the side of the road during their routine patrols and forest protection. The bird had difficulty moving and could not fly. The bird was later taken back to the wildlife rescue center for treatment and was finally successfully released back into nature.

The frequent appearance of wild animals also illustrates the continuous recovery of my country's ecological environment. Promoting ecological governance, strengthening the protection of rare animals, and improving their living habitats have continuously updated the "friend circle" of rare animals, allowing us to see more and more "magical animals".
