I suddenly became lame after a self-driving trip! Doctors remind me: See a doctor immediately if this happens!

Traveling during the holidays is a good opportunity to relax and unwind, but we must remind everyone that everything should be done in moderation. Even when you are "letting go" outside, you still need to take care of your health.

The guy became lame after driving 1,500 kilometers?

"Doctor, what's wrong with my knee? It's swollen and painful, and I can't even walk without a limp." A few days ago, in the expert clinic of Dr. Cai Youzhi, deputy chief physician of the Department of Orthopedics at the Zhijiang Campus of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Xiaolong, a 25-year-old young man from Hangzhou, was pushed in a wheelchair by his friends. He said with a frown while rolling up his right trouser leg.

After physical examination, Associate Chief Physician Cai Youzhi found that Xiaolong's right knee was obviously red and swollen, with limited mobility, and he needed help from others when standing and walking.

"Have you been exercising a lot lately?"

"No, I just drove to Fuzhou with my friends. Since we drove ourselves, I didn't walk much. The amount of exercise was about the same as usual."

Subsequently, Associate Chief Physician Cai Youzhi conducted a series of examinations for Xiaolong, including magnetic resonance imaging, and discovered that Xiaolong's knee pain was actually caused by an attack of gouty arthritis, and that the uric acid level in his body was very high, far exceeding the normal level.

Gouty arthritis is one of the main manifestations of gout. It refers to an inflammatory reaction caused by excessive uric acid concentration in the blood, which leads to the deposition of excess uric acid crystals in the joints and surrounding soft tissues.

It turned out that Xiaolong and his friends were on a self-driving tour and drank a lot of sugary and fructose-containing beverages on the road, and ate a lot of braised food and other cooked animal food. In addition, they did not get enough rest and were very tired during the trip. These were all reasons that led to high uric acid in the body , which led to acute gouty arthritis.

Around holidays

The number of patients with this disease has increased significantly

Coincidentally, just a few days after Xiaolong's visit, another 26-year-old man, Xiao Chen, came to the outpatient clinic due to unbearable pain in his left knee joint.

Xiao Chen is a fat man. He recently went on a self-driving trip to Xiangshan, Ningbo with his colleagues and friends. He ate a lot of seafood and barbecue, and drank carbonated drinks and beer. After returning to Hangzhou, he began to feel pain in his left knee joint, which was particularly obvious at night. Xiao Chen initially thought it was caused by fatigue, so he rested for a few days, went to the pharmacy to buy some medicine and applied ointment, but the symptoms became more and more serious.

After examination, it was found that Xiao Chen also suffered from gouty arthritis. The combination of seafood, barbecue, drinks and beer made him "excruciatingly painful".

Do these things well

Stay away from gout complications

Gout patients should pay attention to a moderate diet and limit the intake of high-purine foods and alcohol. High-purine foods include all kinds of seafood, animal offal, thick broth, beans, mushrooms, etc.

In addition, gout patients should avoid excessive intake of fried foods, spicy foods, coffee, strong tea, carbonated drinks and other beverages, and try to quit smoking and drinking. Drinking water can promote the body's metabolism, speed up the excretion of uric acid in the kidneys, and help reduce the level of uric acid in the body.

In terms of life, we should maintain a positive and optimistic attitude, adjust our unhealthy lifestyle, avoid staying up late, avoid overwork, develop a good and regular life schedule, and ensure adequate sleep every day. We can also do some physical exercise, control weight gain, and enhance our immunity.

Take medications on time, monitor blood uric acid levels regularly, understand your own physical condition, and perform CT or X-ray examinations when necessary to assess the progression of the disease in joints and other lesions.
