Publisher of this issue: Chen Junbo, founder and CEO of Zhejiang Youlu Robotics Technology Co., Ltd. Results published in this issue: LPLM (Large Physical Language Model) embodied intelligence technology Ever since humans invented computers, we have been imagining and exploring how to give machines artificial intelligence (AI). Imagine a world where machines can perform any task that humans can, from diagnosing diseases to composing symphonies, from driving cars to even making moral decisions. It sounds like the plot of a science fiction movie, but the emergence of artificial general intelligence (AGI) is turning this fantasy into reality. Recently, the Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology's scientific and technological achievements popular science release event was held in Hongyan Garden, a future research and innovation park full of technological content. Chen Junbo, founder of Zhejiang Youlu Robot Technology Co., Ltd., shared his latest achievements in the field of embodied intelligence with everyone. Let every machine have a smart brain What is embodied intelligence? As the name suggests, it is an intelligent entity that has a body and supports physical interaction, such as the household service robots and driverless cars we expect. So what is the difference between embodied intelligence and traditional AI? Chen Junbo explained that both ChatGPT and other AIGCs focus on data processing and symbolic reasoning, and cannot actually affect the physical world; while embodied intelligence, because it has an extra body, can collect environmental information through sensors, so it can interact with humans and the environment in real time. After leaving Alibaba Damo Academy, Chen Junbo founded Youlu Robotics and proposed the P-AGI architecture that can bring artificial intelligence technology from the digital world to the physical world. In Chen Junbo's view, today's large language models have broken the communication barrier between robots and humans, and multimodal models are showing more possibilities. The era of general artificial intelligence technology has arrived. "The biggest opportunity of this era is that every professional device will undergo an intelligent upgrade, and the biggest advantage of large models is versatility, which can be achieved across modalities, scenarios, and industries." Chen Junbo shared with everyone that they internally call this kind of general intelligent brain "Spark", and the inspiration comes from the energy ball in the movie "Transformers". Just like the "Spark", with general intelligence, any mechanical equipment will have its own vitality. Embodied intelligent robots will also appear at the Asian Games Some people say that robots are the "third computer" of human society after PCs and smartphones. It can be said that the era of embodied intelligence has just begun, and the technological competition in this field is also starting at a high speed. A while ago, Google DeepMind's robotics research released one of their latest achievements, which is the robot project RT-2 that they spent 7 months to build. But in Chen Junbo's opinion, there are still some misalignment problems when implementing large language models on robots. For example, there is a misalignment with the physical world. The model is based on the understanding of text symbols, but lacks a specific understanding of the physical world; there will also be input mismatch problems, because our natural language is a highly abstract and ambiguous language system. For example, "human", although only four bytes, summarizes billions of humans on the earth. The LPLM proposed by Chen Junbo's team is to invent a new language system in the physical world to effectively solve these dislocation problems. The "smart brain" he made for robots has already begun to be put into practical use. The intelligent cleaning robot developed by them will also be used in the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games. "In a previous interview, I mentioned a concept, saying that now is the era of PR, and this PR refers to Personal Robert (personal robot). The future will definitely be a magnificent era of embodied robots. I believe that with our efforts, embodied robots will enter thousands of households like smartphones."
