Green Hunt: Small sensors make urban pollutants invisible

Refined ecological environment governance is a new requirement and new challenge for the construction of ecological civilization in the new era. Roads are the blood vessels of cities, and densely populated areas are often densely populated areas and areas where various types of pollution emissions are concentrated. In recent years, Chinese scientific and technological workers have carried out relevant research and development of atmospheric sensors, providing more sophisticated technical tools and data support for urban air pollution monitoring and tracing, helping to improve the level of refined air pollution prevention and control.

In Jinan, technicians "hid" sensors in taxis to achieve real-time mobile monitoring of the concentration of air pollutants such as PM2.5 and PM10 on the road. The positioning accuracy of the sensors is less than 20 meters, and a set of data is uploaded every 3 seconds. The 300 taxis equipped with sensors travel a total of more than 69,000 kilometers per day, with more than 3.6 million sets of data, covering more than 95% of the main urban motor vehicle roads on average every day. Relying on the strong support of sensors, it perfectly makes up for the shortcomings of fixed-point atmospheric grid monitoring and can grasp the specific conditions of the urban environment at the fastest speed.

Areas with severe environmental pollution also include construction sites. Dust is generated during construction processes such as earthwork excavation, construction material loading and unloading, building demolition, and construction waste disposal. To achieve precise and refined urban governance, real-time monitoring with the help of digital technologies such as the Internet of Things and sensors is particularly critical. Sensors connected to the dust monitoring cloud platform can monitor aspects such as loess coverage of the construction site, monitoring facilities, and PM2.5 and PM10 values ​​of dust monitoring equipment, which is conducive to the timely implementation of prevention and control measures and the orderly advancement of dust control work in construction projects. It can be seen that small sensors can play a role in daily supervision and management of construction sites.

In terms of water quality monitoring, in order to timely discover water ecological environment problems and realize digital services such as visual perception, data collection, image analysis, and information processing, the monitoring platform can add filters to the camera and deploy underwater sensors. This technology uses water quality data from different types of sources such as water quality monitoring and video surveillance to perform algorithm model analysis, so as to quickly identify the source of pollution and transmit possible water pollution conditions, locations and other data to the regulatory authorities in a timely manner.

I believe that in the future, new sensors with accurate data and complete parameters will gradually come onto the stage, and environmental monitoring will be carried out through multi-parameter, all-round and more precise data support, which will enhance our scientific understanding of urban pollution and help improve the urban ecological environment.
