Many parents are buying it for more than 1,000 yuan! Experts: There are risks, and it must be used under doctor's advice

As winter gradually arrives in various places

Respiratory diseases have entered the peak season

Recently, entries such as "Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection"

Frequently on the hot search

Attracting everyone's attention

In addition to the continued hot sales of antibiotics such as azithromycin,

Atomizers are also available in the near future

A sales peak has arrived

The search index for atomizers has soared

E-commerce platform sales are booming

The reporter saw in many parent groups that many parents have recently purchased nebulizers or consulted on the use of nebulizers. Baidu Index shows that in the past month, the daily average value of the nebulizer information index is 114116, an increase of 11486% year-on-year and 113% month-on-month.

Ms. Feng said that her child had been coughing for several days and did not get better. She suspected that it was pneumonia. She consulted a doctor offline and two doctors online, and both doctors recommended medical nebulizers for treatment. Ms. Feng immediately ordered a nebulizer with the highest sales volume, which cost about 1,300 yuan.

Public information shows that compared with traditional methods of taking medicine to treat respiratory diseases such as asthma, medical nebulizers atomize the liquid medicine into tiny particles, and the medicine enters the respiratory tract and lungs through inhalation and is deposited, thus achieving painless, rapid and effective treatment. It is a Class II medical device.

The editor searched on the e-commerce platform and found that the price difference of atomizers is large, ranging from tens of yuan to thousands of yuan. The main brands include Omron, Kefu Medical, Yuyue Medical, Haier Medical and other brands. From the sales situation, the sales of many stores have exceeded 10,000 orders, and some have even exceeded 100,000 orders.

The promotional price of a nebulizer from Kefu Medical is 103 yuan. The reporter asked the store as a consumer, and the customer service of Kefu Medical Equipment Flagship Store responded that many customers go to the hospital for nebulization, which costs 30 to 50 yuan per time. After two times, you can buy a nebulizer. It can be used by adults and children for occasional colds and coughs. It is better absorbed than taking medicine alone, and many people have bought it recently.

Expert: It is not recommended to use without medical advice

Otherwise, new pathogens may be introduced

As the customer service said, some consumers chose to buy nebulizers because of the price. Many parents also said that they were worried about the risk of cross infection when going to the hospital, so they bought machines to do nebulization at home.

However, Jin Dongyan, professor at the School of Biomedical Sciences, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, University of Hong Kong and an expert in microbiology, reminded that it is not recommended to use a nebulizer without a doctor's order. There is too much over-treatment, abuse of drugs and random use of drugs. Nebulizer treatment should be prescribed by a doctor and used under the guidance of a doctor, otherwise there is a risk of introducing new pathogens.

In addition, although nebulization treatment at home is economical, simple and convenient, it is necessary to pay attention to:

1. Choice of atomizer

A nebulizer generally includes an air compressor (pump), a sprayer, a mask (or mouthpiece), an air connection guide and other accessories. An ideal household nebulizer requires small size, low noise and fast mist output efficiency.

2. Precautions during nebulization therapy

(1) Avoid eating too much 30 minutes before use to prevent symptoms such as nausea and vomiting during the nebulization process.

(2) Before use, airway secretions must be cleared. If there is a lot of respiratory secretions, pat the back to cough up the phlegm first.

(3) Do not apply oily facial cream before use, as it will cause more drug absorption on the face.

(4) Select appropriate medication and dosage according to doctor’s instructions.

(5) It is best to sit when performing nebulization inhalation, as this helps the inhaled drug to deposit in the terminal bronchi and alveoli.

(6) Generally, each nebulization inhalation session lasts 10 to 15 minutes.

(7) The handheld sprayer should be kept vertical to the ground to prevent the liquid from tilting and spilling. The mask must fit tightly against the mouth and nose during atomization to avoid air leakage that may reduce the efficacy.

(8) Inhalation is more effective when the child is quiet rather than when crying. For infants and young children who cry loudly, treatment can be suspended and nebulization can be performed again after the child is quiet or soothed to sleep.

(9) During nebulization inhalation, the child's complexion, breathing, and mental state should be closely observed. If the child shows pale complexion, abnormal irritability, or symptoms of hypoxia, use of the device should be stopped immediately.

(10) After the atomization is completed, clean the face in time to remove the medicine attached to the face. Rinse the mouth with clean water or drink an appropriate amount of water to reduce throat discomfort and drug residue in the mouth, and reduce the fungal infection rate. For infants who cannot rinse their mouths, wipe their mouths with a saline cotton swab.

(11) For unused nebulized drugs, it is recommended to store them at 8-30°C. Refrigeration is generally not required. To avoid affecting the potency of the drug, it is recommended that the storage time should not exceed 24 hours.

(12) After the nebulizer treatment is completed, cleaning and disinfection are necessary. The nebulizer that has been stored for too long should not be used again.

(13) The sprayer needs to be replaced regularly.

One week after the implementation of the Shanghai Plan

The number of children with the disease has declined

Experts remind: The disease prevention situation this winter is still severe

The Children's Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University introduced that in response to the diagnosis and treatment of mycoplasma pneumonia in children in the city, multidisciplinary experts in respiratory, critical care, infection and other fields from four children's specialty hospitals in Shanghai jointly researched and formulated the "Shanghai Children's Mycoplasma Pneumonia Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines (2023 Edition)", and issued this new plan to pediatric departments across the city on November 6.

The latest data shows that last weekend (November 11th and 12th), the number of emergency department visits (including fever emergencies) at the Children's Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University decreased by more than 800 people compared to the weekend before (November 4th and 5th), a decrease of more than 20%. Among them, the number of fever emergency visits decreased by nearly 20%. Mycoplasma infection in children, which was at a high plateau, may have reached a turning point .

However, the hospital also pointed out that although pneumonia caused by mycoplasma infection is not difficult to treat , susceptible people are prone to repeated infections . With the arrival of low temperatures in November, the peak season for influenza is also approaching, and the disease prevention situation this winter remains severe .

On November 13, at a press conference held by the National Health Commission, experts said that the influenza epidemic season in winter and spring in various parts of China is generally from mid-to-late October to around mid-to-early March of the following year, reaching a peak around January. Pediatric experts kindly remind: Children and other people with low immunity should be vaccinated as soon as possible to prevent the superimposed infection of influenza and Mycoplasma pneumoniae from increasing the risk of severe pneumonia. At the same time, personal habits such as frequent ventilation, frequent hand washing, keeping warm, and wearing masks in public places should be maintained.
