Sexual transmission

The body fluids of AIDS patients contain the HIV virus, and any form of sexual intercourse may become a route of transmission.

Sexual transmission is the main route of AIDS transmission, with heterosexual transmission being the main route, but the proportion of male-to-male homosexual transmission is gradually increasing.

Blood transmission

Transmission through blood and blood products, including sharing of needles, intravenous drug injection, unsafe and unregulated interventional medical procedures, organ transplantation, tattoos, etc.

Mother-to-child transmission

Women infected with HIV can transmit the virus to their fetus or infants through pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding.

1. Maintain a clean body and avoid risky premarital and extramarital sex.

2. Do not take drugs or share syringes with others.

3. Do not borrow or share personal items such as toothbrushes, razors, shaving knives, and anything else that may cut the skin.

4. Using condoms is one of the most effective measures to prevent sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS during sexual intercourse.

5. Avoid direct contact with the blood, semen, and breast milk of AIDS patients to cut off the transmission route.

Seeing this, some people always worry, can AIDS be transmitted in daily life?

The answer is no!

The spread of AIDS requires three conditions, namely, the source of infection, the route of transmission, and the susceptible population.

Source of infection: AIDS patients and people who carry AIDS but have no obvious symptoms may transmit the HIV virus in their bodies to others.

Transmission routes: It can be transmitted through three routes: sexual intercourse, blood, and mother-to-child transmission. AIDS patients transmit the virus to others through these three routes.

Susceptible groups: People with low immunity, regular blood transfusions or blood donations, and those with chaotic sexual lives are at risk of contracting HIV.

Because HIV has very limited transmission routes, it cannot be transmitted through daily activities such as shaking hands, hugging, mosquito bites, and using public toilets .

HIV has a very weak ability to survive outside the human body and will die quickly if exposed to air . Some commonly used disinfectants such as 75% alcohol and 2% glutaraldehyde can kill HIV.

So! We don’t need to be afraid of “AIDS” in our daily lives.
