The first typhoon red alert this year! Super Typhoon Gemi is about to land, how to prepare for it?

Typhoon "Gemi" has been upgraded to the first super typhoon this year!

At 10:00 today (July 24), the Central Meteorological Observatory issued the first typhoon red warning this year.

It is predicted that Typhoon Gemi will move northwestward at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour, with little change or slight increase in intensity, and will make landfall on the coast from Hualien to Keelung in Taiwan on the night of the 24th (strong typhoon or super typhoon level, 15 to 16, 48 to 52 meters per second).

After that, it will pass through Taiwan Island and will make landfall in the coastal area from Fuding to Jinjiang in Fujian Province in the afternoon or night of the 25th (typhoon level or strong typhoon level, 12~14, 33~42 m/s). It will then go deep inland and head northward, and its intensity will gradually weaken.

"Gemi" has a huge cloud body, a dense center, and an asymmetrical structure. As its intensity continues to increase, it will become the king of winds in the northwest Pacific this year.

According to the Central Meteorological Observatory, heavy to torrential rain is predicted in southeastern Zhejiang, eastern Fujian, Taiwan Island and other places from 14:00 on July 24 to 14:00 on July 25. Among them, parts of southeastern Zhejiang, northeastern Fujian, Taiwan Island and other places will have heavy rainstorms, and eastern and southern Taiwan Island will have extremely heavy rainstorms (250~600 mm).

At 10:00 on July 24, the Fujian Provincial Flood Control Headquarters upgraded the typhoon prevention emergency response to Level II and initiated a Level IV emergency response to heavy rain.
