Recently, the Shandong Environmental Science Society announced the results of the 2024 Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award. Among them, an innovative project of the Weifang Ecological Environment Monitoring Center, "Key Technologies and Applications for Pollution Reduction and Carbon Reduction of Non-road Mobile Machinery Based on BDS Empowerment ", stood out and won the first prize in the science and technology category. This award is officially filed by the Shandong Provincial Department of Science and Technology. The Shandong Environmental Science Society established and carefully organized the selection. It cleverly combines the power of cutting-edge technologies such as Beidou satellite navigation, geographic information technology, Internet of Things perception, artificial intelligence, and big data analysis to build an efficient and intelligent pollution source supervision network. This network not only allows regulatory authorities to "see" the location and status of each non-road mobile machinery in real time and comprehensively, but also accurately judge its emissions through big data analysis, realizing the transformation from "blind men touching an elephant" to "observing every detail" . What's more impressive is that the project team has also overcome a series of technical difficulties, such as how to make Beidou satellite positioning more accurate, how to make multi-source information work together, etc. They have developed low-cost, low-energy monitoring equipment, just like putting on an "environmental protection bracelet" for machines, so that they can minimize pollution to the environment while working, and achieve "green operation". On this basis, the project team proposed a regulatory strategy of "strict inspection, intelligent management, and precise control". By establishing a complete non-road mobile machinery regulatory platform, the project team achieved refined management of the entire life cycle, all aspects, and all factors of these machines. This not only provides strong data support for environmental protection in Weifang, but also provides valuable experience and inspiration for exploring new paths for pollution reduction and carbon reduction of non-road mobile machinery in China and even the world. The success of this project is a wonderful application of BeiDou technology in the field of ecological and environmental protection, and a vivid example of how science and technology can help build a beautiful China.
