Mistaking ticks for black dots

Sesame-sized ticks

Not only will it suck blood

Can also spread a variety of infectious diseases

Ticks are blood-sucking parasites. Before sucking blood, their body may be only the size of a sesame seed, but after sucking blood, they can swell to the size of a soybean.

In addition to sucking blood, ticks are also vectors of a variety of infectious diseases. Data released by the Institute of Viral Disease Prevention and Control of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention show that ticks can transmit 83 viral, 31 bacterial and 32 protozoal diseases , including Lyme disease, tick-borne encephalitis, spotted fever, typhus, fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome, etc.

After being bitten by a tick, its saliva can cause reactions such as redness, swelling, itching and pain in the surrounding skin.

If there is an infection with a vector-borne infectious disease, symptoms such as high fever, headache, vomiting, and diarrhea may also occur. Many people will mistakenly think that they have a cold or fever, which delays treatment.

Woods, grasslands, bushes, farmlands, streams, and lakes may all be habitats for ticks , so anglers, hikers, and camping enthusiasts should be especially careful and beware of ticks during outdoor activities.

In addition, livestock and pets such as cattle, sheep, dogs and cats may become hosts for ticks, so everyone should also be vigilant when coming into contact with animals.

If you find something like a small black dot suddenly appear on the surface of your skin, be sure to check carefully to see if you have been bitten by a tick! Especially on the scalp, behind the ears, waist, armpits, groin and below the ankles.

If you find that you have been bitten by a tick, do not slap, pick or crush it directly with your hands, or burn it with fire, to avoid the tick's mouthparts remaining in the skin and causing infection.

The correct way to do it is:

● Use tweezers or other tools to gently pull the tick upwards and out without pulling or twisting it;

● Disinfect the bite site with alcohol or soap and water;

● Do not touch the removed tick directly with your hands to avoid skin infection.

Of course, the safest thing is to go to the hospital! Ask the doctor to help you deal with it, and bring the tick to the hospital or take a photo to show the doctor .

I would also like to remind everyone! After being bitten by a tick, the incubation period of some diseases can be as long as one month! If you have symptoms such as high fever, fever, fatigue, headache, etc. a few weeks after removing the tick, you must go to the hospital in time!

1. When going outdoors, wear long sleeves and long pants, and tie your trouser legs tightly. Do not wear sandals or slippers, and try to cover exposed skin as much as possible.

2. Use insect repellent products according to the instructions.

2. After returning from outdoor activities, carefully check whether there are ticks attached to your body, especially in places that are not easily noticed, such as the scalp and behind the ears.

3. Deworm your pet regularly, and carefully check whether there are ticks on your pet after walking the dog.
