5 seemingly good habits that save money may actually increase the risk of cancer!

"It takes time for ice to freeze three feet thick." Many cancers do not occur in a short period of time, but are closely related to daily living habits. Especially some "savings" that should not be saved, seemingly good habits may increase the risk of cancer!

Habit 1:

Keep eating if the food is bad

A small piece of fruit is rotten, a piece of bread is moldy, a small piece of sugar cane is spoiled... some people think that as long as the rotten part is cut off, the good part can still be eaten. In fact, food mold is caused by the growth and reproduction of mold. The visible mold spots on moldy fruits are just the "tip of the iceberg", and the mold and toxins have already spread to the inside. Therefore, even if the moldy part is cut off, the remaining part is not suitable for consumption.

In addition, eating moldy food may cause health problems such as intestinal discomfort, allergic reactions and respiratory diseases. The toxic metabolites produced during the growth of mold, mycotoxins, can cause health hazards such as poisoning, immunodeficiency, carcinogenesis and teratogenesis.

Health Tips:

1. Try to buy fresh food, buy a little at a time, and buy more after you finish eating.

2. Fruits that are slightly damaged by collision can be eaten, but it is safer to throw away fruits that are already moldy.

3. Try to buy less semi-finished vegetables and fruits that are already cut and prepared.

Habit 2:

I often eat leftovers because I am afraid of wasting them.

Many people are very frugal with food. They often put the unfinished food in the refrigerator and continue to eat it the next day or the day after. It is okay to eat it occasionally, but if you eat leftovers for a long time, it may cause harm. Leftovers are the "driving force" of gastric cancer, and gastric cancer is more likely to target "people with unhealthy eating habits."

Health Tips:

1. Instead of feeling bad when faced with leftovers, it is better to remind yourself and your family to cook the right amount of food and not leave any leftovers.

2. Choose fresh and wholesome foods.

3. The World Health Organization recommends that cooked food should not be left at room temperature for more than two hours, should not be kept in the refrigerator for more than three days, and leftovers should not be reheated more than once.

Habit 3:

Keep cooking oil for too long

Many people believe that cooking oil can be consumed as long as it is within the shelf life, but this is not true. In 2018, Tianjin TV's "Food Tasting for Truth" program conducted a test and found that once cooking oil is opened, 3 months is the critical point for safe use of the oil. Oil that has not been consumed within 3 months after opening is equivalent to a dangerous carcinogenic factor.

After oxidation and rancidity, oils and fats often contain aflatoxin contamination, which can produce a "rancid smell" and produce thick smoke and choking sensation when heated, which is related to the occurrence of liver cancer.

Health Tips:

1. If there are few people in your family, it is best to buy oil in small barrels.

2. Large barrels of oil must be packaged in oil cans, and it is safer to choose frosted or opaque oil cans.

3. It is best not to place the oil bottle on a windowsill or other place where it can be exposed to direct sunlight, as this will make it more susceptible to oxidation.

Habit 4:

Repeated use of cooking oil

Deep-frying uses a lot of oil, and in order to avoid waste, some families will use the remaining oil to continue cooking. The oil that has been used for frying looks normal, but as everyone knows, when the oil is heated at high temperatures, it will produce trans fatty acids and toxic lipid oxidation products . When this oil is used for high-temperature cooking, carcinogens will increase dramatically.

Health Tips:

1. Avoid repeated high-temperature cooking with leftover oil. It is recommended to use it for low-temperature cooking. If you don't want to waste it, you can use the leftover oil to make pasta, such as scallion pancakes, flower rolls, snacks, etc. If there are solid impurities in the oil, filter it first.

2. The leftover oil can also be used to make soup, especially vegetable soup, you can put a little bit of it in the soup.

3. When blanching vegetables, you can add a few drops of leftover oil to make the vegetables brighter in color and enhance their taste.

Habit 5:

I don't want to turn on the range hood

Some people are used to stir-frying when cooking. In order to save electricity, they are reluctant to use a range hood, so they inhale a lot of oil smoke.

The impact of kitchen fumes on people, at first glance, is that they have a strong irritation to the nose, eyes, and throat mucosa, which can cause respiratory diseases such as rhinitis, pharyngitis, and tracheitis. Long-term inhalation of fumes can also lead to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

In addition, kitchen fumes are also one of the risk factors for lung cancer.

Health Tips:

1. Turn on the range hood before starting the fire. Every time the gas stove is ignited or turned off, a little gas may leak. At the same time, waste gas is also produced when the gas burns, which is harmful to health.

2. After cooking, turn on the range hood for a few minutes to allow the fumes to be completely exhausted.

3. When cooking, you cannot just turn on the range hood. It is best to open the kitchen window at the same time. On the one hand, it can help to exhaust the fumes, and on the other hand, the fresh air will help the gas to burn fully.
