Whether smart home appliances can be implemented depends on two conditions

In 2014, the concept of smart home appliances exploded, and home appliance companies rushed to catch the smart trend and accelerate the development of smart home appliances. Jiang Feng, chairman of the China Household Electrical Appliances Association, believes that whether smart home appliances can be finally implemented and accepted by users depends on two factors: user experience and product price.

Aowei Consulting estimates that the smart home appliance market will reach 1 trillion yuan by 2020. Peng Yu, deputy general manager of CMM, also believes that the home appliance market is "smart in the future." The current home appliance industry is staging a race to become smarter.

At IFA2013 and CES2014, domestic and foreign home appliance manufacturers exhibited a large number of smart home appliances. The industry predicts that smart home appliances will be the biggest attraction at the China Home Appliances Expo - Shanghai 2014 (AWE2014) which will open on March 18.

Jiang Feng said that this year, smart home appliances are hotter in China than in foreign markets. This is the result of the technological development and reserves of my country's home appliance companies, as well as the pursuit of the capital market and the vigorous publicity of the media.

"The research and development of smart home appliances started many years ago and suddenly became popular this year," Jiang Feng said. The development of science and technology as a whole, including the maturity of Internet technology, electronic information technology, Internet of Things technology and related supporting technologies, has played a great role in promoting the development of smart home appliances.

Peng Yu believes that the implementation of intelligence will become the focus in 2014.

In this regard, Jiang Feng said that whether smart home appliances can be accepted by the market depends first on consumer experience and whether consumers are willing to pay for smart products. "In the past, the price of feature phones was one or two thousand yuan, but now smartphones are sold for three or four thousand yuan. Although the price is higher, many functions of smartphones bring great convenience to consumers, so consumers are willing to buy them." Jiang Feng gave an example, saying that the same is true for smart home appliances.

"The second is to look at the price." Even if the price of smart home appliances is higher now, as long as they are within the acceptable range of consumers, consumers will be willing to buy them. "After the technology develops and the quantity increases, the price of smart home appliances will also come down, and will not be too high." Jiang Feng said.

"At present, the development level of smart home appliances in my country is basically synchronized with that in foreign countries. In the next few years, we may surpass others and take the lead," Jiang Feng believes. "Compared with mature markets, Chinese consumers are more receptive to new things, which will drive my country's home appliance industry to move faster in the direction of intelligence."

Jiang Feng disagrees with the current practice of some institutions evaluating the intelligence level of home appliances: intelligence is a process, and with the development of technology, the intelligence level of home appliances will continue to develop from low to high, so we cannot simply judge the intelligence level of a home appliance.

"In the past, it was wired control, then it was remote control, now it is wireless network control, and in the end it may be eye control or nerve control. Today's smart home appliances may look very good, but tomorrow they may turn out to be very low-level," said Jiang Feng.

Industry experts also believe that it is difficult to classify the IQ level of products with a simple standard for functional standards such as intelligence, and defining the intelligence level of home appliances is not in line with the future direction of industrial development.
