CCTV reports that barrage movies have gone from subculture to mainstream

On August 24, CCTV Finance Channel reported on the barrage movie culture popular among the post-90s generation. The report said that there were few viewers for the films to be taken off the screen, but with the barrage, the audience's enthusiasm was unexpectedly high. The funny and interesting barrage made the entire theater lively. It also said that barrage movies provided the audience with a new viewing mode, but it was still in the stage of testing and promotion, and the audience's acceptance and the maturity of the technology needed to be verified.

Wang Jun, the person in charge of the technical provider of the barrage movie, said: "We have made two barrages, one for Tiny Times and the other for Blades of the Assassin. Overall, the effect is very good. The sending and receiving of the entire barrage system, including the filtering of sensitive words and content review in this process, have achieved our design goals and the expected effects can be achieved."

However, the New York Times holds a different view , analyzing that in the traditional era, watching movies was a quiet, escapist way of enjoying entertainment, and barrage undoubtedly brought an unpleasant experience.

The American technology news website "Enticer" also expressed surprise at the barrage of comments in Chinese cinemas. A report on the website pointed out that in the United States, people who frequently chat on their mobile phones in cinemas are considered impolite. However, in China, it seems that society is more tolerant. Not only is it okay to play with mobile phones casually, but the text typed on the phone can even become part of the movie content.
