Sniping Samsung, why does Skyworth dare to say that curved LED TVs are a technological regression?

How thin can a TV be? With the launch of Skyworth GLED Air G9200, we know that this value can reach 7.5mm, which is thinner than Apple iPhone 5s.

After making the thinnest LCD TV in history, Liu Tangzhi, president of Skyworth Group's color TV business unit, also pointed out that Skyworth GLED Air G9200 was developed to address the so-called curved TVs in the market, and emphasized that the current curved LED TVs are a technological regression in the TV industry.

At present, many TV manufacturers, including industry giant Samsung, have promoted curved LED TVs as their main products in the market. So where does Skyworth get the confidence to target Samsung?

Curved TV: High cost does not mean good experience

Curved LED TV is a TV product that uses traditional LED technology, but the screen surface has a certain curvature.

The advantages of curved LED TVs are obvious. So far, most TVs are flat. The curved screen shape is easy to distinguish in style. In the highly homogenized appearance design, it forms brand differentiation and achieves the purpose of product differentiation in the LED TV market.

On the other hand, due to the characteristics of the curved screen, users can visually provide the best viewing effect from one edge to the other, and the curved design of the screen that surrounds the viewer can also give people a more immersive feeling.

But everything has its pros and cons. The hard bending process of the curved LED TV screen panel greatly increases the risk of screen explosion and easily causes large-area light leakage. The size and weight of the body are also difficult to be effectively controlled. The brightness can only take into account both sides of the screen. Under normal circumstances, the viewing angle of less than 76 degrees caused by the curved surface is only suitable for single-person viewing.

In addition, the special screen design also makes the manufacturing process and production requirements of curved LED TVs more difficult. In order to obtain a good experience, the bending angle cannot be determined by any random value. In addition, the curved LED TV increases the product costs such as materials and transportation, which brings additional burden to users. But in the end, after spending a high price, consumers may not get the expected usage experience.

Joining hands with LGD, Skyworth focuses on the best picture quality

Even though the TV is 7.5mm thick, it still does not follow the trend of curved design. What Skyworth values is undoubtedly the usage scenarios of TV products. After all, the TV placed in the living room is for all family members, and the larger viewing angle brought by the flat screen is conducive to everyone sharing the wonderful content on TV together.

In terms of screen panel selection, Skyworth has teamed up with LGD to compete with its competitors. Currently, only LGD has fully mastered OLED TV technology.

This time, the new Skyworth TV uses the Slim light display technology developed by LGD, which is based on the transition process from LCD TV to OLED TV. In terms of design and picture quality, Slim light is the best product among LCD TVs at present. Even in the lightest and thinnest LCD TV products, its 4K4-color technology can effectively guarantee the viewing effect and achieve the best picture quality that users idealize.

Therefore, the launch of Skyworth GLED Air G9200, with an amazing thickness of 7.5mm, looks crazy thin, but it does not blindly pursue breakthroughs in product form. It is always based on the usage scenarios of TV in home environment, pursuing excellent picture quality performance, and is full of rationality in product thinking.

Whether curved LED TVs are a technological regression may still require time to verify, but the pace of domestic TV brands to snipe international giants has clearly been sounded.
