Germany's strong sales momentum for electric vehicles is continuing, with the latest data showing that in August this year, the number of new plug-in passenger vehicle registrations increased by 38% year-on-year to 8,121. Among them, sales of pure electric vehicles soared 104% year-on-year to 5,001 units, accounting for about 1.6% of the market share; while sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 3,120 units, down 9% year-on-year, accounting for about 1% of the market share. In terms of specific models, BMW i3 sales hit a new high for the sixth consecutive month, with sales of 992 units in August, including 987 pure electric models. Renault ZOE ranked second with sales of 777 units. Tesla 's sales surged 412% year-over-year to 514 vehicles (98 Model S, 60 Model X, and 356 Model 3), but that was its lowest monthly sales of the year. However, the company is expected to see a surge in sales in September. By comparison, Audi e-tron sales in August were 366, while Jaguar I-Pace sales were 82. |
