China Passenger Car Association & CAM: Passenger car market product competitiveness index is 90.9 in November 2021

The Automobile Market Research Branch of the China Automobile Dealers Association (Passenger Car Market Information Joint Committee, referred to as the Passenger Car Market Information Joint Committee) and Shanghai Fulan Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. (CAM Automotive Consulting) jointly released the "Product Competitiveness Index", aiming to build a mature product evaluation standard, study the factors affecting product competitiveness, and gain insight into market trends.
The "Product Competitiveness Index" is an index that quantifies product competitiveness by building a product competitiveness index system based on four dimensions: user reputation, market popularity, product evaluation, and price strength. The larger the index value, the stronger the comprehensive competitiveness of the product.
November 2021 Index Overview

Taking January 2019 as the base period, the overall market product competitiveness index in November 2021 was 90.9, unchanged from the previous month; from the perspective of the three major market segments, sedans remained unchanged month-on-month, SUVs rose by 0.1 points month-on-month, and MPVs rose by 1.4 points month-on-month.

Overall market product competitiveness index trend

In November 2021, the wholesale volume of passenger cars was around 2.15 million units, an increase from the previous month and a decrease from the previous year. Due to the impact of the epidemic in November on store visits and insufficient total chip supply, the overall market heat declined slightly, down 0.1 points from the previous month. At the same time, the discounts on some car series increased, and the price strength index reflecting market discounts increased by 0.3 points from the previous month, while the product evaluation index reflecting the product's cost-effectiveness decreased by 0.4 points from the previous month. Overall, the overall market product competitiveness remains unchanged.

Overall, the product competitiveness index of the sedan market in November 2021 was 91.2, unchanged from the previous month. Among them, product evaluation fell by 0.9 points from the previous month, while user reputation, market popularity and price strength increased by 0.1, 0.1 and 0.4 points respectively from the previous month.

In November 2021, the SUV market product competitiveness index was 90.2, up 0.1 points month-on-month. Among them, user reputation and market popularity declined by 0.2 and 0.5 points month-on-month respectively, while product evaluation and price strength increased by 0.2 and 0.4 points month-on-month respectively.

MPV market product competitiveness index trend
In November 2021, the MPV market product competitiveness index was 96.7, up 1.4 points month-on-month, of which price strength fell 1.8 points month-on-month, while user reputation, market popularity and product evaluation increased by 1.7, 0.2 and 2.9 points month-on-month respectively.
