KGI Securities analyst Ming Jiguo released his latest research report on Apple on Thursday, pointing out that although iPad shipments continue to decline, Apple's revenue from this product line has stabilized, mainly because Apple has released the iPad Pro priced at $799, making the product line more high-end. KGI Securities analyst Ming Jiguo said that the worst period for Apple's iPad product line has passed. Specifically, he expects the average selling price of the main iPad lineup to increase due to Apple's launch of the iPad Pro, which will go on sale next month. His supply chain information indicates that Apple will ship about 2 million iPad Pros in the fourth quarter due to supply issues with Sharp's display panels. By 2016, the supply of iPad Pros will increase, but the average selling price will also increase accordingly. Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that iPad product line shipments will reach 15.5 million units this quarter, and total iPad shipments will drop 16% to between 40 million and 42 million units in 2016. However, total revenue will be offset by higher profits from the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. For iPhone, Ming Jiguo predicts that sales will continue to be strong in the third quarter of this year, up 23.6% from the same period last year, with shipments reaching 48.5 million units, of which 22 million are the newly released iPhone 6S series. Apple will announce specific shipment data next Tuesday. Ming Jiguo predicts that iPhone shipments will reach 70 million to 75 million units in the fourth quarter of this year. Ming Jiguo warned that iPhone shipments will experience the first decline in early 2016.
