Equipment Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: The average fuel consumption of China's fuel vehicles in 2021 is 5.13L/100km

The Equipment Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held a press conference in Beijing to release the "Annual Report on the Implementation of the Parallel Management Measures for Passenger Car Enterprises' Average Fuel Consumption and New Energy Vehicle Credits (2022)". The "Annual Report" summarizes the development of energy-saving and new energy vehicles in my country in 2021, sorts out and analyzes the credit transaction compensation in 2021, and analyzes the subsequent policy highlights and credit supply and demand situation.

Since the implementation of the "Parallel Management Measures for Passenger Car Enterprises' Average Fuel Consumption and New Energy Vehicle Credits", the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, together with relevant departments, has carried out four credit transactions, with a cumulative transaction volume of 14.1 billion yuan, which has strongly supported automobile energy conservation and the development of new energy vehicles.

In 2021, the average fuel consumption of the passenger car industry was 5.13L/100km (WLTC conditions), which was more than 15% lower than that in 2020, exceeding the assessment target of 5.97L/100km; 3.09 million new energy passenger cars were produced (included in the points calculation), a year-on-year increase of 1.6 times. The implementation of the Points Method has achieved its intended purpose.

It is worth noting that the average fuel consumption of the passenger car industry only represents the fuel consumption of the vehicle under NEDC or WLTC test conditions, and cannot reflect the fuel consumption in actual daily driving environments. This is the reason why many people complain that their cars can never reach the fuel consumption level announced by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

However, some time ago, the domestic car owners' public fuel consumption testing website "Xiao Xiong Fuel Consumption" released the "2021 China Automobile Fuel Consumption Ranking", which is also of certain reference significance to car owners.

In the compact car ranking list, Cruze, Sagitar, Octavia, Angksela and Corolla took the top five places, with fuel consumption all below 6.76L/100km. The top ten were also taken by joint venture models.
