The automotive lithium battery with the highest energy density will be launched, and Panasonic may be overtaken

How can an automaker prove that it is serious about developing electric vehicles? That’s right, finding a dedicated battery supplier to develop and mass-produce batteries is a good proof. Faraday Future today officially announced a partnership with LG Chem to provide battery products for itself. The latter has previously provided lithium battery products for many models including GM’s Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicle.

The cooperation between LG Chem and Faraday Future shows us that in the future, Faraday Future will build a series of different types of models based on a modular platform, and all of them will use lithium batteries provided by LG Chem as the power system. This variable platform VPA design can greatly reduce costs, and through a basic universal platform, different lengths can be adjusted and equipped with different motors, and various models from high-performance sports cars to family SUVs can be built.

The battery supply from LG Chem will also be integrated into the VPA platform, and lithium battery components of different capacities will be produced through different lengths of chassis and wheelbases. The two companies said at the press conference that they will jointly produce the "world's highest energy density automotive lithium battery", a title previously held by the alliance of Tesla and Panasonic, and the only battery manufacturer in the world that can produce 60wWh and above.

There is not much news about Faraday Future, an electric car manufacturer from California. Previously, at CES 2015, the company demonstrated a concept electric car called FFZER01. The company is also developing driverless cars and has invested $1 billion with Aston Martin to build a factory in Nevada. The first car model in the future will become a competitor to Tesla Model X.
