Apple is developing cars in Canada, BlackBerry is crying

Google's driverless cars have already been put on the road for testing, while Apple, as a competitor, has still been a mystery about its rumored Apple car. However, according to the latest Bloomberg report, Apple has now made a new move. The company has set up an office in the suburbs of Ottawa, the capital of Canada, to develop software for its car project.

The automotive field is not Apple's expertise, but the company chose another shortcut.

According to reports, Apple currently has more than 20 engineers poached from BlackBerry at this office. Earlier this year, Apple also hired Dan Dodge, the former CEO of BlackBerry's automotive software division.

According to reports, Apple has set up a dedicated technical team to develop a car software platform, and Apple's driverless car software will most likely be built based on this software platform.

It is reported that Apple's driverless technology team will use virtual reality technology to test its car driving software. Previously, Apple has hired virtual reality and augmented reality expert Doug Bowman, who developed a virtual reality simulation room when he was at Virginia Tech. He is currently developing a simulator for Apple that will allow the company to test its driverless software without having to drive the car to an outdoor road.

It was also reported that Apple also plans to develop a special windshield that can display various applications, such as maps or other applications, and users can control them through Siri.

Apple recently reorganized its car project, with new director Bob Mansfield in charge of the project. It is reported that Mansfield has given the team a death order to decide the overall direction of the project by the end of 2017 at the latest.

Now, Apple’s car’s “focus” has shifted from developing a real electric car to developing car software.
