Volkswagen may be numb to the lawsuit again

According to foreign media reports, the state of Illinois in the United States has filed a lawsuit against the German automaker Volkswagen Group. This lawsuit is the 19th state government in the United States to file a lawsuit against Volkswagen due to the emissions scandal .

Volkswagen Group only admitted for the first time last year to installing cheating software in its car emissions systems.

The lawsuit was accepted Monday by Cook County Circuit Court Attorney Lisa Madigan, who oversees Volkswagen 's U.S. affairs and civil penalties for environmental violations in Illinois. Madigan said 29,800 vehicles in Illinois were affected.

　　Jeannine Ginivan, a spokesperson for the Volkswagen Group, said the lawsuit will be further reviewed. In addition, the Volkswagen Group has agreed to recall or repair all problematic vehicles and to contribute $2.7 billion to all U.S. states, including Illinois, to address environmental pollution issues. It will also invest $2 billion to enhance U.S. infrastructure to facilitate the use of zero-emission vehicles.
