Speaking of electric sports cars, who do you think of first? If I'm not mistaken, it must be Tesla. However, at the Geneva Motor Show a few days ago, an electric supercar from China attracted global attention, and its 0-100km/h acceleration performance even exceeded that of Tesla.As the only Chinese automaker invited to the Geneva Motor Show last year, Techrules displayed two concept cars, AT96 and GT96, at the previous show. Both concept cars have very cool appearances and are equipped with a power system using gas turbine range-extended electric technology TREV (Turbine Recharge Electric Vehicle) technology. They can achieve an amazing maximum power of 1,044 horsepower and a maximum range of more than 2,000 km.
At this year's Geneva Motor Show, Techrules' first mass-produced model, the Ren, was officially released. This supercar is Techrules' first mass-produced model and is a range-extended electric vehicle. The battery pack is powered by a gas turbine instead of a traditional piston engine."Micro gas turbine" is the core technology of Techrules. According to official introduction, this aviation-powered extended-range electric vehicle (TREV) system uses a gas turbine to drive a generator to charge the battery pack. In different operating modes, the gas turbine can charge the battery pack on the vehicle/drive the motor for power, or both at the same time. At this year's Geneva Motor Show, Techrules not only displayed the car, but also the related technology and future production OEMs. It seems that Techrules really wants to mass-produce this car. According to official statements, the Ren is the world's first innovative aviation-powered extended-range electric mass-produced supercar. Its design is inspired by aviation technology and adopts a modular three-cockpit design. It was created by famous designers Giorgetto Giu-giaro and Fabrizio Giugiaro. The production and manufacturing process is mainly undertaken by the Italian professional modification factory LMGianetti.Techrules' TREV system is very different from ordinary hybrid systems. It has amazing efficiency. 80 liters of diesel fuel are used to drive the turbine to generate electricity, which is stored in the battery or directly drives the car, with a maximum range of 1,170 km. This averages 14.6km per liter, which may not seem like much, but the Ren on display at the auto show has two electric motors on the front and four on the back, with a maximum horsepower of 1,350 and a maximum torque of 795 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of 320km/h. The TREV system uses some aviation technology to introduce compressed air into the turbine to mix with fuel, and then drive the turbine to rotate after ignition, which can reach nearly 100,000/rpm per minute. Part of the compressed air can be recycled and reused to drive the turbine to rotate again. The battery pack is available in three capacity configurations: 14 kWh, 25 kWh and 32 kWh. Under the fast charging system, it can be charged to 80% in 15 minutes, and the battery has a charging life of 100,000 times. Another focus of the TREV system is to provide vehicle endurance through two power diesel turbines of 30 kW and 80 kW. The maximum endurance can reach 2,000 km, but the zero-emission driving is only 200 km. The cockpit design is similar to that of a fighter jet, with the driver's seat in the center. Buyers can choose between single-seat, double-seat or triple-seat configurations, and can also choose the type of canopy according to their needs. Techrules plans to start production in Italy in 2018, with an estimated output of only 96 units, or 10 units per year. Although Techrules is a Chinese company, the design and production of the electric supercar are not in China. Since the cockpit of this electric supercar is similar to the cockpit of an airplane, the cockpits are independent of each other, and since the single cockpit is located in the middle, it uses a camera as a rearview mirror to display the surrounding images on the cockpit screen. Each cockpit has a speaker and a screen for communication and conversation, which is much more technological than Tesla. And the Ren electric sports car is not a concept car. The final mass-produced version will retain all the current designs, so both the performance and the aircraft cockpit-like design will be completely preserved. In order to ensure high performance and reliability after actual mass production, a lot of track testing is needed in advance. Since last summer, the Ren electric supercar has begun road testing of prototype vehicles. The car has completed testing at the Silverstone Circuit in the UK, landed in Europe and obtained production qualifications. The annual production is expected to be around 25 units, which also determines that it can only be sold in the form of a limited edition. It is understood that the price of this supercar is expected to exceed 2 million yuan and will be launched in 2018.
