Wuliangye denies plans to build cars, says future main business will be making liquor

Recently, an insider of Wuliangye Group gave a clear reply: Wuliangye Co., Ltd. has no plan to build cars. The insider said that the company that has reached a cooperation with Chery is Sichuan Yibin Pushi Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Wuliangye Group, which has long supplied parts to automobile manufacturers. This time, the Yibin State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission invested in Kaiyi Automobile, and Pushi Group invested as a local parts supplier. If Wuliangye really wanted to make efforts in the automobile industry, it would not only hold 0.5% of the shares of Kaiyi Automobile. In the future, Wuliangye Co., Ltd.'s strategic goal will not change, and it will not waver in strengthening its main business of liquor.

Some industry insiders believe that the acquisition of Kaiyi by Yibin State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission is a win-win for both parties. For Chery, after several years of strategic transformation, Chery has finally returned to being a Chery brand. With the advent of the era of strategic transformation 3.0, Chery has not only demonstrated its determination to slim down and reorganize by selling shares of Qoros Auto and Kaiyi Auto, but also replenished funds and made its product line clearer.

For the Yibin State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, while successfully obtaining automobile production qualifications, Kaiyi's existing traditional automobile manufacturing can be quickly connected with the local parts industry chain and generate revenue. With the strong financial reserves of the Yibin State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and the local government's support for the automobile manufacturing industry, it is expected that the Kaiyi brand will be revived again.
