Samsung's new generation flagship smartphone S8 has been released for some time, but the time of the domestic launch conference has not been determined. Recently, it was revealed that the domestic version of Samsung S8 will be released on May 15 and will be officially on sale on May 25.

As for the price, which is of concern to everyone, it is said that the price will be more acceptable, which may be between 5,200 and 5,800 yuan. The 6+128GB top-end version of S8 Plus for Chinese and Korean users is said to be priced at 5,888 yuan, which is much lower than the speculation of 6,888 yuan or even 7,000+ yuan.

Judging from the cautious pricing principle of Samsung S8, Samsung hopes to use S8 to please Chinese market users this time, in order to improve the brand damage caused by the explosion of Note7 last year.

Last year, after the Samsung Note7 explosion incident, the Samsung smartphone brand was put to an unprecedented test, and many domestic users questioned the quality of Samsung smartphones. This series of doubts eventually reflected Samsung's performance in the smartphone market last year. According to IDC data, the top five smartphone brands in China in the fourth quarter of 2016 were OPPO, Huawei, vivo, Apple, and Xiaomi, and Samsung's sales volume dropped significantly and failed to enter the top five.

Samsung S8 has been officially launched, but it will take another month for the Chinese market to be released. The delay in the launch of Samsung S8 in the Chinese market may be due to the restrictions on the first launch rights of Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip in China, and also because of the explosion of Samsung Note7 last year, which led to the stricter review of S8 by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Therefore, it has not yet obtained the certification of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

In fact, nearly two months on the market have been very unfavorable for Samsung S8.

First, in the next two months, domestic smartphone manufacturers will release multiple competing products, which will take up the sales time of Samsung S8. For example, Huawei P10 is very popular in China, and it is out of stock on many platforms. In addition, Xiaomi 6, which has been exposed recently, has also won the recognition of many users.

Although the Samsung S8 has a lot of changes in design, such as the removal of the front Home button, the ultra-high screen-to-body ratio, the Snapdragon 835 chip, Bixby smart assistant, support for three-proof, iris recognition and other black technologies, but compared with domestic flagship products, the Samsung S8 has lost its absolute competitive advantage, not to mention that domestic flagship products have a great advantage in price.

In addition, the first-mover advantage of the delayed Samsung S8 in the domestic market will weaken again as time goes by compared to the iPhone8. In the high-end smartphone market, Samsung has always been the biggest competitor of the iPhone. Therefore, seizing the advantage of the release time is a means for Samsung to grab iPhone users at a different time.

In the Chinese mobile phone market, there has never been a shortage of users who are willing to pay high prices for high-end flagship products. Therefore, delaying the first launch in the Chinese market by two months will mean the loss of hundreds of thousands or even millions of high-end flagship users.

In 2017, the market share and sales volume in China are crucial for Samsung, and whether it can win back the trust of Chinese users with the help of S8 will become the most important task of the year. Facing the fierce competition from Chinese manufacturers such as Huawei, Samsung must come up with a more active and sincere strategy, otherwise it will continue to fall behind in this round of competition.
