However, there is sad news. According to Taiwanese media reports, since Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chip uses Samsung's 10nm technology, Qualcomm has received support from Samsung. Both parties have sacrificed 50% of their profits and sold the latest Snapdragon 835 chip at a loss, trying to use price wars to suppress MediaTek.

Industry chain insider @冷希Dev also said on Weibo that Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 can be priced at around US$70 for large customers in the second quarter, and the current external unit price of Helio X30 is around US$60. Therefore, when the gap is not obvious, Qualcomm's quotation will put great pressure on MediaTek, which will also lead to fewer and fewer customers using MediaTek Helio X30 chips. It is estimated that MediaTek's mobile phone chip shipments will decline by 10~15% this year, which will be the first decline in nearly 4 years.

At present, Meizu is the only core customer of MediaTek. Many netizens even suggested that Meizu should use Qualcomm chips as soon as possible. However, according to Meizu's plan, the product should have been finalized, and the product equipped with Helio X30 should be released after June or July. Since the cost of MediaTek Helio X30 is not low, Meizu's price may be more than 2,500 yuan.

Although MediaTek still has heavyweight customers like Meizu, and the Meizu PRO 7 can continue to bring profits to it. But now Meizu has reached a patent settlement with Qualcomm, and Meizu phones equipped with Qualcomm chips are just around the corner. MediaTek really needs to be careful! After all, in the chip market, with one more competitor, consumers can have more choices.

If Qualcomm really becomes the only dominant player one day, then it can charge whatever amount for patents it wants, and it will essentially monopolize the industry. I can't imagine what the consequences will be.
