This evening, the Shanghai Economic and Information Technology Commission's WeChat account stated that Shanghai Economic and Information Technology Commission Director Chen Mingbo recently led a delegation to visit Silicon Valley in an effort to get Google's driverless car and other projects to settle in Shanghai.

During his visit from July 17 to 20, Chen Mingbo visited Google, Baidu (USA), Synaptics, Applied Materials, ARM, Tesla, Pony.ai, Intel and other companies, and exchanged views with relevant venture capital funds and investment companies.

On the one hand, the delegation actively invited Google CEO Sundar Pichai and other senior executives of artificial intelligence-related companies to attend the 2018 World Artificial Intelligence Conference. On the other hand, it strived to attract a number of major projects such as Google Waymo's driverless car to settle in Shanghai.

The Economic and Information Technology Commission's WeChat account said that it had reached a certain consensus on projects such as Google's Verily (biology) and Waymo (driverless) projects, Synopsys' security software project, Applied Materials' applied innovation center project, ARM's artificial intelligence innovation platform project, and Pony.ai's headquarters project, laying a solid foundation for the implementation of the next project.

The delegation also took test rides on Waymo, Baidu and Pony.ai driverless cars. The Waymo driverless car received unanimous praise for its smooth and seamless test ride experience.

Chen Mingbo focused on introducing the foundation of Shanghai's industrial development and the direction of future key layout, hoping that relevant companies will further increase their development and investment in Shanghai. He analyzed the bottleneck problems faced in the implementation of major projects and provided feasible operational paths.

After efforts, we have reached a certain consensus on projects such as Google's Verily and Waymo projects, Synopsys' security software project, Applied Materials' Applied Innovation Center project, ARM's artificial intelligence innovation platform project, and Pony.ai's headquarters project, laying a solid foundation for the implementation of the next project.

The 2018 World Artificial Intelligence Conference will be co-organized by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government.

The conference will be held at the West Bund in Xuhui District, Shanghai from September 17 to 19. The theme of this conference is "Artificial Intelligence Empowers the New Era", and the focus is on the combination of "industry, academia, research, application and investment".
