On April 3, technology company TuSimple announced that its Level 4 autonomous freight trucks have entered the in-port container truck driverless transportation market. It will conduct large-scale road tests and commercial trials from 2018 to 2019 in preparation for full commercialization in 2020.

On May 24, the first self-driving heavy-duty truck "Xinglong No. 1" jointly launched by Suning Logistics and PlusAI completed testing on closed roads in a Shanghai logistics enterprise park. The vehicle has L4 level self-driving capabilities and can automatically plan driving routes, autonomously avoid obstacles, and automatically and accurately park.

On May 29, JD.com officially released its fully independently developed L4-level autonomous driving heavy-duty truck, and stated that in the future, JD.com's autonomous driving trucks will focus on the research and development and promotion of L4-level intelligent driving on highways, and establish an L4-level autonomous driving heavy-duty truck network in China.

Lionbridge and Juma Logistics, which have just announced their entry into the field of autonomous driving, have not yet launched any intelligent driving products, but they have also stated that they will achieve fully autonomous driving on highways and ordinary urban roads in the next few years and develop smart trucks that suit their own characteristics.

The special properties and usage environment of commercial vehicles make it relatively easy to commercialize autonomous driving.
