Recently, Great Wall Motors held a Great Wall New Energy Strategy Conference and ORA Brand Conference in Baoding, Hebei. Great Wall Motors will adopt three technical routes: hybrid + pure electric + hydrogen fuel, and derive multiple products based on five platforms. ORA is an independent pure electric vehicle brand under Great Wall Motors. It is developed and designed on the brand-new new energy product ME platform and is positioned in the pure electric vehicle market below RMB 100,000. It is expected to launch 4 products in the next 3 years. In terms of fuel cell vehicles, Ning Shuyong, vice president of Great Wall and general manager of the ORA brand, said that Great Wall has its own judgment on the fuel cell vehicles that the public is optimistic about, and has a clear product launch plan and timetable. Great Wall expects that by 2025, fuel cell vehicles will become as important products as pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Therefore, Great Wall plans to showcase its first fuel cell vehicle based on a dedicated platform in 2020 and launch its first fuel cell fleet at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. In the field of hydrogen fuel cells, Great Wall has its own plan. Great Wall's positioning for hydrogen fuel cells is to start with medium and large vehicles, which can avoid the shortcomings of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles such as difficulty in hydrogen refueling and are also easy to carry out commercial operations. The cooperation between Great Wall and BMW on new energy vehicles is destined to be more than just a taste. After introducing the BMW electric MINI, Great Wall will also focus on other BEV platforms that BMW has launched, and even hydrogen fuel cell vehicles such as the hydrogen 5 Series and 7 Series.
