The land acquired by Tesla is located in the east to the planned reserved green belt of the East China Sea Second Bridge control line, in the south to the Renmintang green belt, in the west to the Nanfengjie River green belt, and in the north to the Laolitang River green belt. In August this year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the construction cost of Tesla's Shanghai factory is expected to be US$2 billion. At the beginning of September, the registered capital of Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. increased from 100 million yuan to 4.67 billion yuan, which provided financial support for the construction of the Shanghai factory. At present, Tesla's funds and land are ready, and the nationalization process of Tesla will be further accelerated. Tesla continues to accelerate the construction of the Shanghai factory in order to solve its insufficient production capacity problem as soon as possible. Due to production capacity and other issues, Tesla has been continuously downgraded by Moody's, Standard & Poor's and other brokerages. According to the plan, Tesla's Shanghai factory will start mass production in 2020 and gradually form an annual production scale of 500,000 new energy vehicles. On July 10 this year, Tesla announced that it would independently build a Tesla Gigafactory in the Lingang area of Shanghai that integrates R&D, manufacturing, sales and other functions. It will include an electric vehicle R&D and innovation center, Tesla Gigafactory, Tesla Sales China Branch, etc. It is the largest foreign-funded manufacturing project in Shanghai's history. China is Tesla's largest market outside the United States. After Tesla's localization, the cost will be greatly reduced and the price will be more competitive in the market.
