In fact, GAC New Energy Aion S was unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show last year. Today, GAC New Energy Aion S was pre-sold at the smart ecological factory in Guangzhou, with the starting price of the Xuan series at 140,000 yuan and the Mei series at 160,000 yuan.

Gu Huinan announced that Aion S has a range of 630km at a constant speed of 60km/h and a NEDC comprehensive operating range of 510km. It has a maximum power of 135kW and a maximum torque of 300N.m.

In terms of configuration, Aion S is equipped with GAC New Energy AI system version 2.0, as well as L2 autonomous driving assistance systems such as TJA traffic congestion assistance, ICA integrated cruise assistance, and APA automatic parking assistance. It is also equipped with the world's first solar self-circulating ecological cabin, which can generate electricity through solar energy to achieve battery charging, ventilation and other functions.

What’s more worth mentioning is that Aion S can also provide consumers with in-depth interactive customization services that can intervene in the production process to create personalized and exclusive vehicles.

It can be said that the Aion S released by GAC New Energy this time is coming with great momentum and has a clear target - targeting Tesla Model 3.

What does range mean for new energy vehicles?

It can be said that whoever solves the range problem first will grasp the main contradiction in this industry and cure consumers' "range anxiety".

New energy vehicles are certainly the general trend, from China's national direction to the natural choice of the climate. However, if the range does not "increase" and charging piles are not popular, it will inevitably hinder the formation of China's new energy market.

In addition, two other indicators closely related to mileage are also worth paying attention to:

1. Power consumption per 100 kilometers. If the power consumption per 100 kilometers is high, it means that in order to achieve a long driving range, the battery capacity must be large. On the one hand, this will increase the cost of using the car, and on the other hand, it also means a longer charging time - charging is not so convenient now.

2. Increasing the number of battery packs will increase the weight of the vehicle body. After exceeding the critical point between the battery weight and the driving range, the gains will outweigh the losses. Under the same battery capacity, the smaller the energy density, the larger the battery pack will be, which will inevitably take up space in the vehicle.

More importantly, the subsidies for electric vehicles are also determined by three indicators: driving range, power consumption per 100 kilometers, and battery pack energy density. For example, everyone knows that there will be subsidies of 10,000 to 60,000 yuan for buying pure electric vehicles, but how is it calculated?

According to the 2018 New Energy Vehicle Promotion Subsidy Plan and Product Technical Requirements, the subsidy calculation is divided into three steps:

1. Endurance. When the endurance is greater than 150, 200, 250, 300, and 400, the subsidies are 15,000, 24,000, 34,000, 45,000, and 50,000 yuan respectively. According to GAC New Energy's GE3 530, the endurance is 410, which can get the full subsidy.

2. Energy density coefficient: When the energy density of the battery pack is greater than the four thresholds of 105, 120, 140, and 160Wh/kg, subsidies will be provided at 0.6, 1, 1.1, and 1.2 times, respectively. GAC New Energy GE3 530 can reach the terrifying figure of 160Wh/kg, which is at the same level as Tesla.

3. Electricity consumption coefficient per 100 kilometers. The electricity consumption coefficient per 100 kilometers is classified according to the weight of the vehicle, and the only vehicle that can receive the 66,000 yuan subsidy is the GAC New Energy GE3 530. As far as we know, this is the first model in China to receive the full subsidy.

The GAC New Energy Aion S launched today is even better than the GE3 530. It uses the latest generation of ternary lithium batteries from CATL with an energy density of 170-180Wh/kg, and is equipped with the latest generation of BMS battery management system. It uses the world's first deeply integrated high-performance "three-in-one" electric drive system, with a maximum power of 150kW and a maximum torque of 350N.m.

I think that the range of new energy vehicles should be 500km. Because ethanol gasoline is volatile, it is best to fill up half a tank, which can basically run about 300km, and a full tank is about 600km. Apart from Tesla, there are not many domestic brands that can truly achieve this range.

This time, GAC New Energy brought us a real surprise.
