Tesla's global Internet outage paralyzed its cars, netizens: nothing new

Tesla’s Battery Day had just ended when tragedy struck.

According to foreign media reports, Tesla experienced a network outage on the morning of September 23rd Eastern Time, the system was completely shut down, and customer connection functions were also unable to connect.

According to an insider, the Internet outage was caused by an internal failure of Tesla, and the staff were unable to even process orders.

The Internet outage also affected Tesla owners. Starting at 11 a.m. local time on the 23rd, Tesla owners lost all functions of connecting the APP to their cars.

Reports show that Tesla's network outages appear to be global, with similar incidents occurring around the world. Most of the reported network outages are from U.S. cities such as San Francisco, Boston, and New York, and similar issues have also been reported by car owners in Europe, including the United Kingdom, Germany, and Russia.

After the network outage, some Tesla owners said that they were unable to enter the car because the APP could not control the car.

As of now, Tesla has not responded to the Internet outage.

In fact, similar network outages are a frequent problem for Tesla.

On May 13 this year, a large number of Tesla owners in China reported that due to the APP crash, the mobile phone car key could not be activated, the vehicle information could not be obtained, and even the car dashboard screen could not be lit up, so the owners could only "drive blindly".

At that time, Tesla reminded car owners that they could temporarily connect to the vehicle by setting their phone time back to May 11, two days ago, and not to rush to log out.

Earlier in 2018, Tesla cars were also reported to be unable to connect to the Internet. The reason Tesla gave at the time was that there was a problem with the network operator AT&T.

As an advocate of smart cars, Tesla frequently encounters network and system problems, causing dissatisfaction among users. Some netizens joked that Tesla cars are just Android phones with four wheels, and network disconnection problems are nothing new.

However, as a vehicle that weighs more than 2 tons and can travel at a speed of 120km/h, any minor fault in a Tesla car could potentially cause a major safety issue. Therefore, Tesla should put the safety of its owners first and provide the reasons for similar problems and solutions, rather than repeatedly pretending that the problem does not exist.
