BYD sold 14,463 pure electric vehicles last month, a year-on-year increase of 181%, becoming the main driving force for performance growth

Yesterday, automaker BYD announced its sales data for January 2021. The data showed that the company sold 20,178 new energy vehicles last month, a year-on-year increase of 183%, of which the sales of pure electric vehicles were 14,463, a year-on-year increase of 181%.

Data shows that BYD sold 42,401 vehicles in January, up 68% year-on-year, of which 22,223 were traditional fuel vehicles, up 23%. Pure electric vehicles accounted for 34% of the company's total vehicle sales, and sales have increased significantly, becoming the main driving force for the company's performance growth.

In January 2021, BYD's total installed capacity of new energy vehicle batteries was approximately 1.754GWh.

BYD was founded in February 1995. It is a Chinese company that produces batteries for traditional fuel vehicles and electric vehicles. Its main businesses include new energy vehicles and traditional fuel vehicles, automotive business, performance parts and assembly business, photovoltaic business, etc. BYD started with the battery business and currently maintains 100% independent research and development, design, and production capabilities in the battery field.
