At the Great Wall Motors 2025 Strategy Release and the 8th Technology Festival held on June 28, Chairman Wei Jianjun disclosed Great Wall Motors' future development goals for new energy vehicles: annual sales of 4 million vehicles in 2025, of which new energy vehicles account for 80%. Carbon neutrality will be achieved in 2045. To this end, Great Wall Motors will build its first zero-carbon factory in 2023 and establish a recycling system for the automotive industry. Previously, many European car brands have announced their target years for achieving carbon neutrality, and brands such as Volkswagen, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Honda have also set plans to stop producing fuel vehicles. Great Wall's statement also makes it the first domestic car company to publicly announce a carbon neutrality timetable, and this goal is 15 years earlier than the country's proposed 2060 carbon neutrality goal. At present, Great Wall Motors owns five vehicle brands, namely Haval, WEY, Ora, Tank and Great Wall Pickup, with products covering three categories: SUV, sedan and pickup. On June 29, Mu Feng, vice president of Great Wall Motors, revealed that the company will launch a new brand in September this year, focusing on the research and development of PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicles). This can also be regarded as the latest step in Great Wall Motors' carbon neutrality plan. Regarding the carbon neutrality goal, Meng Xiangjun, rotating president of Great Wall Motors, said: "Carbon neutrality by 2045 is not a passive pressure to meet the target, but a driving force for active transformation, because to achieve globalization, we must break down green trade barriers, which is the guarantee for the success of Great Wall's globalization business."
