As the undisputed leader in China's new energy vehicle industry, BYD's sales have been increasing steadily in recent years. However, at the same time, the problem of BYD's vehicle models not being comprehensive enough has been exposed, and it is unable to meet the needs of consumers in the segmented market.

Therefore, in addition to continuing to launch Dynasty Network's models and consolidating its existing consumer groups last year, BYD also intended to support Ocean Network and launch models in market segments not covered by Dynasty Network. The representative model among them is the Seal, and its counterpart is Dynasty Network's Han EV. These two models have been repeatedly mentioned and compared by consumers in the past year.

So the two models that 91che is going to compare today are Han EV and Haibao, to see which of them is the better pure electric sedan. The comparison versions are all selected from versions under 230,000, namely Haibao 2023 700KM Champion Edition Premium and Han EV 2023 Champion Edition 605KM Premium.

Appearance

In terms of appearance, as the first pure electric sedan in the Dynasty family to adopt the Dargon Face 3.0 design, the front shape of the Han EV subtly reveals a sense of dignity and heaviness that is awe-inspiring without being angry. It is both elegant and not frivolous.

The waistline on the side of the car body is steady and restrained, and does not seek to use obvious muscle lines to highlight its presence; the tail is BYD's iconic through-type taillights, which look very simple and advanced.

However, since the Han EV is positioned as a comfort sedan, its actual performance is relatively conservative. The official 0-100 acceleration takes a full 7.9 seconds. Therefore, it is not suitable for consumers who pursue power, but is more suitable for concierge and family use who do not care about the power level.

Although the 231Ps horsepower, 170kW power and 330N·m torque electric motor used by the Seal does not seem to have a significant gap with the Han EV in terms of parameters, in actual tests, the Seal's acceleration response and horsepower performance are far ahead of the Han EV, and it only takes 7.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h.

At the same time, due to the use of a more integrated CTB chassis and rear double wishbone independent suspension, the handling performance of the Seal is far better than that of the Han EV, and the road feel feedback is more obvious. Therefore, the Seal is very suitable for consumers who like the driving experience of sports cars, which is completely different from the consumer group that the Han EV is suitable for.

Battery life

In terms of battery life, both Han EV and Haibao use BYD's own lithium iron phosphate blade batteries, which have excellent safety. They also support the first owner's warranty policy with no mileage/year limit, so there is no need to worry about battery aging.

However, at almost the same price, the battery capacity of Han EV is relatively small, only 72kWh, while the battery of Haibao is 82.5kWh. Therefore, the theoretical pure electric range of Haibao can be 700km, while that of Han EV is only 605km.

Although both support fast charging and can be charged from 30% to 80% in half an hour, if you need to travel long distances, the large battery of the Seal will obviously give you more sense of security than the Han EV.

Therefore, if you are just commuting in the city, the range of Han EV and Haibao is more than enough, but if you need to travel long distances, then Haibao would be a better choice.

Interior

In terms of interior, Han EV adopts a design language similar to that of traditional fuel luxury cars. Except for the piano lacquer panel on the center console that is deliberately designed for the sense of design, other places are covered with soft materials, and the cabin is very comfortable.

However, although the Han EV's cabin is made of good materials, the design elements are too exaggerated, resulting in a lack of design order in the cabin. Visually, it looks a bit chaotic and inconsistent. Therefore, many young consumers who pay more attention to this point will reject the Han EV.

The Seal continues the marine design language used in the exterior. The cabin features an embracing design. The soft material extending from the center console to the door panels on both sides can not only visually highlight the continuity of the cabin design elements, but also enhance the tactile comfort of the cabin.

From the through-type design element that connects the air conditioners on both sides of the center console, it can be seen that the cabin design of the Haibao is better than that of the Han EV, and the overall design concept is more mature. It does not cram in so-called "luxurious" design elements for the sake of "luxury".

Both models are equipped with a 15.6-inch central control screen equipped with BYD's own operating system. Since the screen size is large enough, you can get a better entertainment experience when watching videos. And because it supports the installation of third-party Android applications, the car computer can install third-party applications that the owner likes, and the potential for entertainment that can be developed is very strong.

However, it must be pointed out that the operating systems of the two models have problems with inconsistent system UI styles and overly confusing menu categories. Therefore, for consumers who care more about the car-machine experience, they can go to an offline store for a test drive to see whether the car-machine system can meet their needs before deciding whether to buy it.

Car buying advice

According to the comparison, although Han EV and Haibao are from the same school and have similar pricing, there are still big differences between them when it comes to consumer groups. It seems to be a competition between the same school, but in fact, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei each have their own strengths. Is the Azure Dragon Crescent more powerful, or the Zhangba Snake Spear more powerful? There is no answer to the question, mainly because they have fundamental differences in positioning and face very little overlap in customer groups.

The power of Han EV is not outstanding, and its battery life is not long enough at the same price, but its stable appearance and luxurious interior make it very suitable for use as a business car, and it is suitable for consumers who pay attention to the quality of appearance and interior.

The domineering appearance and powerful performance of the Seal are more suitable for young consumers who pursue ultimate power and hands-on control. The amazing chassis tuning makes it worthy of the title of "driver's car", so if you value the power and control of a pure electric car, choosing the Seal is a very correct choice.
