After buying the CNGP laser radar at a high price, it was abandoned by the official. 500 old Xiaopeng P5 owners jointly defended their rights

Recently, nearly 500 Xiaopeng P5 owners jointly sent a letter to He Xiaopeng, the co-founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaopeng Motors, expressing their dissatisfaction and demanding a clear explanation and solution. It is reported that this is another collective complaint against Xiaopeng Motors after the Xiaopeng G3i owners' rights protection.

It is understood that the Xiaopeng P5 is the first model launched by Xiaopeng Motors equipped with two laser radars. It was launched in September 2021. At that time, the biggest selling point was that it was equipped with laser radar, which could realize the urban NGP (navigation-assisted driving) function in the future. This function can realize automatic driving in scenes such as highways, urban expressways, and urban main roads in navigation mode. He Xiaopeng once said at the press conference that the P5 supports CNGP (urban navigation-assisted driving) and will be open to cities across the country in the future. However, as of now, only some roads in five cities support CNGP, which does not meet the needs of cities across the country at all.

Not only that, at an event on the 24th of last month, Xiaopeng officially announced that XNGP will support automatic assisted driving in 25 to 50 cities by the end of the year, but the Xiaopeng P5 car, which debuted CNGP, was excluded from the support list. Facing angry accusations from car owners, Xiaopeng officials said that this was because the P5 used a vertical screen car machine and therefore could not be adapted.

This obviously did not calm the anger of old car owners. They believed that Xiaopeng Motors was using the money that old users paid for cars to develop new systems, then sell them to a new batch of car owners, and then abandon the old users.

It is reported that a person from the content department of Xiaopeng Motors revealed that the company is internally discussing how to resolve the issue of joint rights protection for P5, but Xiaopeng Motors has not officially responded to this.

It has been reported that the P5 owners' rights protection incident has triggered discussions among many Xiaopeng car owners. Many Xiaopeng car owners are worried that their models will soon be abandoned by the official and lose the adaptation and support for later software upgrades.

91che believes that this incident reflects an important issue facing the smart car industry: In the era of software-defined cars, how to balance technological innovation and support for old users? Smart cars are different from traditional cars. They need to constantly update software and hardware to improve performance and functions, but this also means that older models may be eliminated or ignored.

On the one hand, software support for automobiles is different from system upgrades for smartphones. The rapid hardware upgrades and updates have greatly increased the difficulty of software support for older cars. On the other hand, if smart car companies fail to provide old users with timely, effective and reasonable upgrade plans, it may damage user trust and loyalty, and affect brand image and market competitiveness.

Xpeng Motors' development goal is to become a user-centric, technology-driven smart car company. To achieve this goal, Xpeng Motors needs to continuously innovate technology, enrich products, and optimize services. At the same time, it also needs to pay attention to the needs, feedback, and rights protection of old users, and find a balance between innovation and support for old products, so as to maintain brand power and competitiveness in the ever-changing automotive industry.
