ASUS PadFone mini full review: one device plays two roles

In terms of appearance, the ASUS PadFone mini continues the simple style of the PadFone family. The lines are very simple and the visual effect is also excellent. The model I received this time uses a black front and white back panda color scheme, which makes the whole machine look less monotonous. The front of the machine has a 4-inch screen with a resolution of 480*800 pixels. The visual effect is not bad, and the performance in color and brightness is worthy of recognition. Above the screen, we can see the ASUS English logo, the handset and the front camera. Below the screen are three touch buttons. As before, the PadFone mini changed the traditional menu button to a multitasking button. At the "chin", the ASUS PadFone mini also uses a concentric circle design, which is excellent in both visual effect and texture. The back of this ASUS PadFone mini in my hand uses a white matte texture back cover. This design allows the machine to effectively avoid the trouble of fingerprints, and the texture feels really good, making people feel very warm. Because the back has a certain curvature, the grip performance is also quite good. There is an 8-megapixel camera on the top of the back, but it is not equipped with an LED flash. There is a speaker on the right side of the camera, which looks very well made. There is also an Asus English logo below the camera. The lower part of the back of the fuselage is relatively "empty" and not many functions are placed here. The design of the fuselage is also very detail-oriented. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top of the fuselage, a microphone and a dock interface for connecting to the tablet base at the bottom of the fuselage. The biggest highlight of the ASUS PadFone family is that this series of models can be connected to the corresponding tablet base, and transformed into a tablet device, which is no different from other tablet devices in terms of visual experience and operation. The screen size of the corresponding tablet base is 7 inches, and the resolution reaches 1280*800 pixels. The display effect is good. This size really echoes the phone itself, and the portability is very prominent. Because there are no buttons on the front of the tablet base, the ASUS PadFone mini will display virtual buttons in tablet mode, and the translucent design is adopted, which does not affect the visual effect. Therefore, the actual resolution of the ASUS PadFone mini should be 1200*800 pixels after inserting the base. Although this is a tablet base, the ASUS PadFone mini can still make and receive calls in tablet form. There are handsets and microphones above the screen and at the bottom of the tablet, which greatly improves the convenience of the deformed tablet. The tablet base of the ASUS PadFone mini has a power button and a volume button on the right side of the fuselage, a microUSB port on the top, and a speaker at the bottom of the back. It is worth mentioning that the tablet base of ASUS PadFone mini has a 2200 mAh battery, which can not only provide power for the screen display content but also provide more power for the ASUS PadFone mini itself.
