Last year, we had a very detailed experience of the CUE system equipped in the Cadillac XTS. Icon-based system interface, full touch operation, intelligent screen lighting and touch feedback functions. All of this is a deep combination of mobile smart terminals and cars, making the in-vehicle system no longer just entertainment, but also more humanized and intelligent. However, the CUE system, which pioneered one of the in-vehicle systems last year, also ushered in two more important upgrades this year: open source and expansion. The introduction of the "Sogou Chinese Input Method" may not be much to discuss in the eyes of many users, and the majority of automotive media friends only mentioned this upgrade in passing. However, in the eyes of the professional IT media circle, the CUE system actually ushered in far more than just the Chinese input method. As a third-party application, while adding the Sogou input method, Cadillac is also silently announcing to the outside world that the CUE system will have the possibility of loading more third-party applications in the future. In the previous 2013 version of XTS, Cadillac announced that in the future, CUE Store will provide users with applications including Weibo, weather, news, etc. The 2014 version of XTS makes this statement closer to us. Imagine that when the CUE Store ecosystem is truly established and improved, and when third-party applications enter the CUE platform, in addition to performance, playability will be added. Perhaps many people still believe that the most important function of a car is transportation, and performance and safety are ranked as the two most important indicators for buying a car in the traditional concept. Then when the manufacturing cost of a car is getting lower and lower, the performance and safety gap of models of the same price are no longer so big, and people are no longer so difficult to buy a car, but the license plate number becomes a limiting factor rather than money. Then the playability of the in-vehicle system, or more accurately, its breadth of application, may become one of the important indicators for people to buy a car. Of course, the above situation may be far away from us, but Cadillac's CUE system, including so many smart in-vehicle systems on the market, is the best proof. Shortly after experiencing Cadillac's new generation XTS, Apple's CarPlay system, which was promised at the Geneva International Motor Show on March 4, was unveiled. Although the author has not really touched CarPlay, in so many reviews and experience articles and videos, we see more that CarPlay exists as an intermediate system between smart terminals and car displays, which you will feel more and more strongly in the exposed video content. Would you rather have the in-vehicle systems of thousands of car brands all be the same as Apple, or let the in-vehicle systems themselves compete with each other and be different, so that third-party in-vehicle applications can be developed more deeply? Of course, I prefer the latter. Even Apple, one of the world's largest technology companies, is facing a car system that is directly linked to car safety, operability and users. At present, it only copies the usage mode of mobile phones and lets the Siri voice system help with simple functions such as sending and receiving text messages, navigation, making and receiving calls, and listening to music, which have actually been realized long ago. On the much-anticipated CarPlay system, I did not see any third-party applications. Cadillac and Audi have both announced that they will abandon Apple's CarPlay system, with Audi turning to Google, while Cadillac will stick to its self-developed CUE system. There is nothing wrong with this, because Cadillac knows its own models better than any other technology manufacturer in the world. If the CUE Store ecosystem is well established and the breadth and depth of applications are good enough, I would certainly prefer to use the original system. It is undeniable that Cadillac's CUE is ahead of the curve because of the addition of third-party applications.
