Samsung WP8 new flagship first experience

Following the footsteps of Nokia Lumia 930, Samsung quietly released a new WP flagship model last week - ATIV SE. Like Lumia 930, this phone is also equipped with a 1080P screen and a quad-core processor, but it is a little regrettable that it is only equipped with WP8 GDR3, and the WP8.1 upgrade is still in the distant future. Next, let's take a closer look at the latest WP flagship model of Samsung, the "WP Emperor". First of all, in terms of appearance, although ATIV SE is a WP phone, it fully inherits the design style of Samsung Galaxy family and the "fine tradition" of not changing the shell. Its appearance is almost the same as the previous generation ATIV S: similar to the rounded appearance of Galaxy, it is also equipped with a physical Home button under the screen. In fact, two years ago, ATIV S has been accused of imitating the Galaxy S series, so if it were not for the Microsoft Windows logo on the Home button and the WP Logo on the back, the ATIV SE phone would probably be mistaken for a member of the Galaxy S series. Of course, from the details, ATIV SE is also different. For example, there is a breathing light on the side of the front speaker, which will light up when charging. In addition, the ATIV SE is slimmer and more comfortable to hold. If the appearance is a bit disappointing, then the hardware specifications of the ATIV SE are pleasantly surprised. The phone is equipped with a 5-inch 1080P full HD AMOLED screen (covered with Corning's third-generation Gorilla Glass), a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, 2GB of memory and 16GB of built-in storage (supports SD card expansion), a built-in 2600mAh removable battery, and supports 4G LTE network. The ATIV SE provides a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera. Judging from the sample photos, its photo-taking ability is still much better than the previous ATIV S. It should be noted that the ATIV SE seems to be able to only shoot 4:3 samples, not 16:9. In terms of system, the ATIV SE is equipped with the WP8 GDR3 system. Although it has many updates compared to the previous WP8, it is obviously not the same as the latest WP8.1. There is no notification center, custom wallpaper, etc. The only consolation is that after the hardware upgrade, it runs quite smoothly. Finally, let's talk about the price. The bare metal version of ATIV SE in the United States is 599 US dollars, which is equivalent to about 3,725 yuan, the same as the initial price of ATIV S. In stark contrast to the Amdroid market, which is keen on hardware competition, the models on the WP platform are generally low-profile. Therefore, after the release of ATIV SE, Samsung has become the second manufacturer in the WP market with a 1080p screen and quad-core high-end WP flagship phone. However, Samsung's perfunctory attitude towards WP is also fully reflected: unlike Lumia, which focuses on photography and wireless charging, AITV SE does not have much highlights except for transplanting the hardware configuration on previous Galaxy phones. Samsung's mentality of playing around on the WP platform has not changed.
