5G network test speed is unimaginable
According to the technology blog CNET, Ericsson announced on Tuesday that as part of the company's 5G wireless technology research and development plan, in a wireless test it recently launched, the transmission speed reached a maximum of 5Gbps. The news is indeed exciting. The wireless transmission speed of 5Gbps means that it is 250 times faster than today's LTE connection standard, marking a new record for wireless transmission speed. This transmission speed will benefit smartphones, cars, medical and other devices. When the network reaches 5Gbps speed, it only takes 80 seconds to download a 50GB movie, which is 5 times the 1Gbps transmission speed of Google Fiber. But unfortunately, the current 5Gbps transmission speed is only data under ideal laboratory conditions, and actual commercial deployment will have to wait until 2020. In any case, Ericsson's test speed provides theoretical support for future high-speed wireless transmission. Given that this 5G network test was conducted in a laboratory state, there is still a lot of work to be done to popularize this network, so some industry insiders believe that it may be a bit too optimistic to launch a 5G network in 2020. But Johan Wibergh, head of Ericsson's network business unit, believes that consumers will eventually be able to access such connection speeds. "We should not think that we can't achieve this test speed in reality. We must know that it brings a real high-performance transmission network." For Ericsson, obtaining the test benchmark is crucial. Because in the current network market, Ericsson has encountered strong competition from manufacturers such as Huawei and ZTE, which have won market share through aggressive pricing strategies. "This test shows that in the future wireless network market, we are the leader in the development of 4G network to 5G network technology, which is very important." Wiberg said. It is reported that Ericsson has conducted 5G network tests with Japan's NTT Docomo and South Korea's SK Telecom. Ericsson said that given the high penetration rate of LTE networks in the North American market, 5G networks may reach this market first, but as of now, no operator in the North American market has made any commitment to 5G networks.
