Honda China: Honda China sales in August 2023 were 102,000 vehicles, a sharp drop of 25% year-on-year

Recently, Honda China announced that its terminal car sales in China in August were 102,257 units, a year-on-year decrease of 25.1%. The cumulative terminal car sales from January to August were 721,639 units, a year-on-year decrease of 23.9%.

Objectively speaking, Honda is no longer as attractive to Chinese people as before, and the continuous decline in sales for several months has confirmed this.

Previously, Honda's popular models, such as Civic, Accord, CR-V, etc., not only had no discounts all year round, but even had price increases. Now, affected by sluggish sales, the terminal discount price of Civic has exceeded 30,000 yuan, and the same is true for Accord.

In addition to Honda's declining sales in China, almost all Japanese cars that have no presence in the new energy vehicle market have been affected. Nissan China has also seen sales decline for several consecutive months. In the first half of this year, Nissan's domestic sales were 358,500 vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 24.4%.

The "disappearing sales" of Japanese cars have almost all been snatched away by domestic car companies. Take BYD as an example. Its sales in August were 274,386 units, a year-on-year increase of 56.8%. In the current domestic auto market, both sales and growth rates are quite amazing.

Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association, once said that the decline in sales of Japanese cars is related to the development trend of the auto market. The domestic fuel vehicle market share is facing a sharp decline, and domestic brands are rapidly seizing market share by relying on new energy vehicles.

However, Japanese cars have never come up with popular models to seize the market in the domestic new energy market. If the transformation of Japanese cars to new energy continues to be unsuccessful, their sales volume will gradually shrink.
