Nissan Motor: Nissan China sales in August 2023 were 64,905 vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 34.8%

According to recent news, Nissan Motor Company recently announced its performance in China in August 2023. Nissan's sales in China in August 2023 were 64,905 vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 34.8%; however, compared with 59,507 vehicles in July, Nissan saw growth in August.

Among them, Dongfeng Nissan (including Nissan, Venucia and Infiniti brands) sold 61,967 vehicles. Nissan, Venucia and Infiniti brands all achieved month-on-month sales growth in August, at 9.7%, 7.8% and 31.8% respectively. The light commercial vehicle business segment (Zhengzhou Nissan) sold 2,938 vehicles.

From January to August 2023, Nissan Motor's sales in China, including its two major business segments of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, were 482,921 vehicles.

Objectively speaking, Nissan's current sales in the Chinese market continue to decline, which is related to its failure to launch popular new energy models and the lack of new models.

Currently, Nissan's best-selling models are still the old brands such as Sylphy, Teana, and Qashqai. In recent years, Nissan has not launched new models in China to seize the market. The product strength of these models has been declining year by year. With the impact of new energy, Nissan's appearance rate in the domestic new car market has also become lower and lower.

In addition, not only Nissan, but the entire Japanese car brand in China has shown a clear downward trend, and Japanese cars are becoming less and less attractive to Chinese people.

Honda China sold 102,257 terminal vehicles in China in August, down 25.1% year-on-year. The cumulative terminal vehicle sales from January to August were 721,639 units, down 23.9% year-on-year.

Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association, once said that the decline in sales of Japanese cars is related to the development trend of the auto market, and the domestic fuel vehicle market share is facing a sharp decline, and domestic brands are relying on new energy vehicles to quickly seize market share.
