China Association of Automobile Manufacturers: A brief analysis of the sales of key enterprise groups in the automobile industry from January to July 2023

According to statistics and analysis by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, from January to July 2023, the top ten companies (groups) in terms of automobile sales had a total sales volume of 13.048 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%, accounting for 83.5% of the total automobile sales, 2.8 percentage points lower than the same period last year.

Among the above ten companies, BYD had the most significant sales growth compared with the same period last year, Chery, BAIC and Geely also showed double-digit growth, Changan and Great Wall increased slightly, and other companies showed declines to varying degrees.

From January to July 2023, the top ten companies (groups) in terms of new energy vehicle sales had a total sales volume of 3.847 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 55.8%, accounting for 85% of the total sales of new energy vehicles, 7.7 percentage points higher than the same period last year. The entire new energy market is still in a stage of rapid growth.

Among the above ten companies, compared with the same period last year, the sales growth of Ideal and GAC was more obvious, both more than doubled. The sales growth of SAIC and Dongfeng declined, and the sales growth of other companies increased to varying degrees.

From January to July 2023, the top ten companies (groups) in domestic automobile sales had a total sales volume of 11.122 million vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 1.5%, accounting for 84.9% of the total automobile sales, 2.1 percentage points lower than the same period last year.
