RAPOO D5 "three-in-one" experience

RAPOO D5 "three-in-one" experience

In terms of functional expandability, mobile power products have inherent advantages. First of all, no matter what additional functions are added, mobile power has a strong power supply as support. On the other hand, today's smartphone users are increasingly in need of mobile power products to enhance the battery life of their phones. Adding innovative functions for mobile phones to the mobile power itself is definitely killing two birds with one stone.

Recently, a multifunctional product called RAPOO D5 has been launched. Its feature is that it combines wireless routing, wireless storage and mobile power supply into one.

A small capacity mobile power bank

The packaging of RAPOO D5 is quite exquisite, with a book-like opening design, which gives people an excellent first impression before the user touches the product.

The blue version of RAPOO D5 we got this time looks similar to the general mobile power products. The top cover is designed with blue matte painted metal material, which looks and feels very textured.

The overall size of RAPOO D5 is relatively small, and the thickness of the body is also controlled at an excellent level among mobile power products. The details of the seams of the body are also made more finely.

In terms of interface design, in addition to the USB and MicroUSB interfaces for charging and discharging, RAPOO D5 also has an Ethernet cable interface and a Wi-Fi control switch for the wireless routing function.

But from the perspective of a mobile power bank, the configuration of RAPOO D5 is not outstanding. The battery cell with a capacity of 4000mAh can only charge most smartphones on the market once in theory, but it is inevitably incapable of charging some domestic mobile phones or tablets with super-large battery capacity. In addition to charging mobile devices, RAPOO D5 also has many functions that require extra power consumption, which we will mention later. This made us question the practicality of this product from the beginning.

A feature-rich wireless device

If RAPOO D5 can only be described as mediocre as a mobile power bank, then its wireless function is quite outstanding.

First of all, RAPOO D5 can be used as a wireless router. It is quite simple to realize this function. Just plug the network cable into the network cable socket next to the USB interface of the product. After ensuring that the network cable can be connected to the Internet normally, turn on the Wi-Fi switch on the side of RAPOO D5, search and connect to the Wi-Fi signal named "RAPOO D5" on the mobile device, and then you can use RAPOO D5 to access the Internet wirelessly.

On the other hand, RAPOO D5 can also be used as a wireless storage device and an external mobile USB flash drive for mobile devices. This is extremely practical for the increasing number of mobile products with non-expandable storage capacity, including the Apple iPhone.

Unlike some mobile power devices that can realize wireless data transmission and require external storage devices such as USB flash drives, RAPOO D5 contains 32G of storage space inside the body. In actual use, two 2-hour 1080P full HD movies in MKV format were imported, and there was still space left, which is enough to meet the viewing needs of most HD enthusiasts on smartphones and other devices.

So, how can a mobile device read the content on RAPOO D5? Let's take iPad as an example. After installing the corresponding mobile App, connect the device to RAPOO D5's own wireless network, that is, the Wi-Fi signal named "RAPOO D5", and you can read the content in RAPOO D5's 32G storage space. In addition, the remaining power of RAPOO D5 itself is also clearly displayed in the App's settings interface, and the function is quite complete.

Unfortunately, although the product provides an Android version of the App, which can be downloaded according to the QR code provided in the manual, it can no longer be downloaded normally. If a mobile device wants to read files on the RAPOO D5, it is still necessary to disconnect the Wi-Fi signal that the mobile device is connected to and connect to the wireless network of the RAPOO D5, which is a bit inconvenient to use.

Summarize:

It is worth affirming that RAPOO D5 gives us a "good idea", integrating mobile power and wireless storage to meet the rigid needs of current smartphone users. However, the small power capacity is undoubtedly a flaw of the product, and the connection problem of mobile devices also needs further development and improvement. After all, not every user who needs a Wi-Fi storage device is in an environment without wireless network for a long time, which provides room for secondary improvement of the product.

As an innovative product, RAPOO D5 embodies its own philosophy from the functions of the product itself. After a good start, we also look forward to more traditional products incorporating new thinking and implementing more user needs.
