L'Avere-France: In August 2023, the number of new passenger car registrations in France was 113,599, an increase of 24% year-on-year

In August this year, the number of new passenger car registrations in France increased by 24% year-on-year to 113,599 units, bringing the cumulative registrations in the first eight months of this year to 1,132,331 units, an increase of 17% year-on-year.

In that month, the number of electric vehicle registrations in France continued to increase, with the growth rate exceeding that of the overall French car market, and gained a higher market share. According to data released by the French organization L'Avere-France, the number of electric vehicle registrations in France in August was 30,482, a year-on-year increase of 53%. Among them, the number of pure electric passenger car registrations was 19,657, a year-on-year increase of 60%, with a market share of 17.3%; the number of plug-in hybrid passenger car registrations was 9,527, a year-on-year increase of 41%, with a market share of 8.4%; the number of light commercial pure electric vehicle registrations was 1,272, a year-on-year increase of 55%, with a market share of 5.9%; the number of light commercial plug-in hybrid vehicles registrations was 26, a year-on-year increase of 37%.

As of the end of August this year, the cumulative registration of electric vehicles in France was 293,433, an increase of 44% year-on-year. Among them, the cumulative registration of pure electric passenger cars was 174,443, an increase of 47% year-on-year, with a market share of 15.4%; the registration of plug-in hybrid passenger cars was 100,747, an increase of 31% year-on-year, with a market share of 8.9%; the registration of light commercial pure electric vehicles was 17,995, an increase of 128% year-on-year; the registration of light commercial plug-in hybrid vehicles was 248, a decrease of 41% year-on-year.

In terms of vehicle sales ranking, Tesla Model Y was the best-selling pure electric model in France in August, with sales of 3,051 units; Tesla Model 3 ranked second with sales of 2,258 units; Peugeot e-208 ranked third with sales of 1,915 units.

As of the end of August this year, the top three models in terms of cumulative sales in France were Tesla Model Y (22,423 units), Dacia Spring (18,589 units) and Peugeot e-208 (15,150 units).
