Fingerprints become useless when they peel off. Which biometric identification is the most reliable?

Fingerprints become useless when they peel off. Which biometric identification is the most reliable?

Biometric technology has reached a new climax. So, which technology is better among face recognition, iris recognition and fingerprint recognition?

According to People's Post and Telecommunications, fingerprint is the most widely used and mature technology, and it is also the starting point of biometric applications. Fingerprint recognition is relatively cheap, highly functional, and a very reliable verification method. However, if you need more advanced security options, fingerprint scanner + smart card or fingerprint scanner + password are good choices. Low-level security options are generally used on mobile phones or tablets to interact with users through sensors. However, fingerprint recognition still has great limitations for some difficult fingers (peeling, etc.) and recognition conditions (wet fingers).

Iris recognition has always been praised as the most accurate and secure biometric identification method. Therefore, the cost of iris recognition is relatively high and requires professional hardware products. However, with the maturity of iris recognition technology, the current cost of iris recognition is no longer "prohibitive". Manufacturers have even developed exquisite and compact iris modules for mobile terminals, which are very cost-effective.

Vein recognition follows closely behind, and is also a relatively safe and accurate biometric authentication method. It provides a high-quality authentication method similar to fingerprint recognition and can also interact directly with users.

Face recognition is contactless, very friendly and convenient, and a better way to use cameras. It can be widely used in various environments, including construction sites, mobile devices, website logins, etc., and does not even require special hardware support.

Voice recognition is also a very convenient way of identification. For mobile devices, it is a quick and easy verification solution. However, the quality control of voice is one of the key factors affecting its recognition and development, and its security is also worrying. However, it can still be used in call centers and customer service.

New technologies such as electronic signatures, gait recognition (walking profile), and earprint recognition are still in a wait-and-see state.
