China's auto market: Tesla's sales in January 2025 fell 11.5% year-on-year, while BYD's sales increased 47%

Affected by increasingly fierce market competition, Tesla's vehicle sales in China fell sharply in January. Data showed that Tesla sold a total of 63,238 electric vehicles in the Chinese market in January, a year-on-year decrease of 11.5% from 71,447 in January last year.

Deliveries of its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles produced in China fell 32.6% month-on-month.

Meanwhile, Chinese rival BYD sold 296,446 pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in January, up 47% year-on-year.
