Top 10 Computer Malware Rankings Have you been attacked?

Internet security company Check Point recently released a list of the top ten computer malware, in which Locky ransomware entered the top three for the first time, becoming one of the most dangerous malware currently. In the past few months, we have read a lot of news about the activities of the Necurs botnet, which is used by cyber crooks to deliver the deadly Locky ransomware.

A report from Proofpoint last week also pointed out that Locky accounted for 97% of all malicious files spread through spam. The complete ranking released by Check Point is as follows:

Conficker is a computer worm virus targeting Microsoft's Windows operating system. The earliest version of the Conficker virus appeared in the fall of 2008. Sality

The Sality virus appeared in 2003 and is capable of infecting computers through different methods. It is believed to have originated from Russia. Sality is a polymorphic malware that is constantly evolving and difficult to detect, and attacks by infecting executable files and downloading more complex malware. It is controlled by a huge botnet, just like Conficker.

Locky

Locky is a new member of the ransomware family that appeared in early 2016. It encrypts more than 100 file types using RSA-2048 and AES-128 algorithms. Locky is spread through exploit kits or emails containing JS, WSF, HTA or LNK files.

Chanitor

Chanitor, also known as Hancitor or H1N1, uses spam to spread the Trojan.

Tinba

Tinba, also known as Tiny Banker or Zusy, is one of the smallest banking Trojans in the world and has targeted Asian countries in the past. Tinba uses web infection to compromise browsers and display fake web pages on real banking portals.

Cryptowall

Cryptowall is a variant of CryptoLocker ransomware. Scammers spread Cryptowall ransomware through malicious ads and phishing.

Blackhole
