US computers must install anti-pornography software: you can pay $20 to unlock it

South Carolina lawmakers are considering a bill that would ban the sale of computers that don't have software that automatically blocks pornography. The Human Trafficking Prevention Act, introduced by state Rep. Bill Chumley, calls for penalties for computer manufacturers and distributors that do not block pornography by default. "Now that almost everyone has access to a computer, we have entered the era of pornography on demand," Chumley said in an interview with the media last weekend. "We have to find a way to get in... and pay attention to this issue. I'm not doing this for political purposes, but I really care about it." But consumers can also pay to remove this lock : as long as they pay a $20 license fee and prove that they are an adult, the lock can be removed. "If an end user buys a computer and wants to watch pornography, they must pay to remove this lock," Chumley said. The funds raised will be provided to the anti-human trafficking unit of the South Carolina Attorney General's Office to rescue victims. Two cities in the state are among the top 20 human trafficking hotspots in the United States. It is not clear what blocking measures South Carolina is prepared to take. According to statistics from the porn website Pornhub, the average time viewers in the state stay on the website is 10 minutes and 32 seconds, ranking third in the United States.
