Apple sued for baseband infringement: Intel and Qualcomm both hit
ParkerVision, a Florida-based RF (radio frequency) technology developer, has filed an infringement lawsuit against Apple in the Munich District Court in Germany, naming it as the defendant. It is reported that Apple's iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPad Air 2 are involved in the case on the grounds that Apple's use of wireless receivers manufactured by Qualcomm in these devices infringes ParkerVision's patents , which are European Patent German Part No. 1 206 831. Today, foreign media reports said that ParkerVision announced that its wholly-owned German subsidiary ParkerVision GmbH has modified the infringement case against Apple to include Apple's latest iPhone products, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, on the grounds that the two devices use Intel's PMB5750 baseband chip , involving infringement of ParkerVision's European Patent German Part No. 1 135 853. At the request of the company, the new lawsuit will be accepted by Germany's Munich District Court independently of the first lawsuit. The hearing for the first case, which involves the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPad Air 2, will reportedly take place on May 4, while the second hearing for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will take place on June 29.
