Lua 5.3.0 RC2 is now available for download (rc2.tar.gz).

Lua is a small scripting language. The author is Brazilian. The language is designed to be embedded in applications, providing flexible expansion and customization capabilities for applications.

Lua scripts can be easily called by C/C++ code, and can also call C/C++ functions in reverse, which makes Lua widely used in applications. Not only as an extension script, but also as a common configuration file, replacing XML, Ini and other file formats, and is easier to understand and maintain.

Lua is written in standard C. The code is concise and beautiful. It can be compiled and run on almost all operating systems and platforms.

A complete Lua interpreter is only 200k, and Lua is the fastest among all current script engines. All of this determines that Lua is the best choice for embedded scripts.
