Will iOS 9 become more stable?

iOS has undergone tremendous changes since iOS 7, with many new features added. iOS 9 may slow down the pace of new feature updates and focus on improving system stability.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple engineers are currently focusing not on launching new features, but on fixing bugs, maintaining system stability, and enhancing the performance of the new operating system. As iOS features grow, iPhones are getting bigger, but even the largest iPhone 6 Plus has a capacity of only 16GB in its lowest version. This means that Apple needs to keep the size of the operating system and update patches within a controllable range so that iOS devices with small capacity can also be used normally.

In addition to the flat interface design, Apple has added many new features since iOS 7, such as Touch ID, Control Center, Health, and Apple Pay. These new features have brought surprises to users, but recently the iOS, which was originally known for its stability, has become somewhat "unreliable" and has had a series of vulnerabilities. For example, in an iOS 8 firmware update, Apple eventually withdrew the firmware update because many users reported update errors. This problem has never occurred in previous iOS.

Bill Gates once mocked the auto industry, saying, "If GM (the largest automaker in the U.S.) had made their technology progress at the same speed as the IT industry, we would have cars today that cost $25 and get 1,000 miles to the gallon." GM's then-president Jack Wickett responded even more forcefully, "If GM had developed technology the way Microsoft did, our cars would crash twice a day for no reason."

This joke illustrates the relationship between new technologies, new features and product stability. iOS has been taking big steps recently, and it may be time to slow down its development and consider how to take a more stable approach.
